Aging Fabulous

An Old Wives Tale.

Well, Mom. It is not true.

wet hairYes, I went outside to do a bit or gardening this morning, and my hair was wet. And it is a bit cold and damp outside. But this does not mean that I am going to get a cold!!!

Seriously, I am an adult, and have been outside plenty of times with my hair sopping wet. And I never caught a cold. I know for a fact that a cold is caught by being infected with a virus. Plain and Simple.

When she started complaining about this to me this morning, I just ignored her. Over and over again. And when I came inside, she wouldn’t let it go and said she just couldn’t fathom why I would even think of going outside with my hair wet. Then I thought, was she worried about how I looked? Or what anyone else thought as they walked by? Or was she truly worried about my health.

Did your mother ever use this one on you?

What would she think if it were only 40 degrees and I went outside with my hair wet and without a jacket? *Oh, the horror*

Ya gotta love moms. You are absolutely correct that it is an old wives tale. But maybe she is just telling you because she loves you.

Your post reminded me of a science joke…What’s faster heat or cold?

Heat, of course, you can catch a cold.
