Just a quick little reminder… have you forgotten about your mask applications? In the winter, they are more important than ever. At this time of year, you will want to choose one that is really creamy. And oh yes, don’t forget to apply your sunblock every morning. I have been using L’Oreal Ombrelle and a little certainly goes a long way. And there is no chance of skipping it if you put it on first thing every morning!

Is there anyone on your list of friends that wouldn’t mind you calling them at 4:00 a.m?? Damn, I need to find some new friends. The only person that I would dare do that is my sister, my mom and my brother… oh yes, I can add my son’s name to that list, but friends… I don’t know??
How would you feel about calling someone in the wee hours of the morning??

Well, I certainly seem to have. A few weeks ago, I told you just how rotten my cold was and then it abruptly disappeared after just a few days. It returned and left again. But, last night it returned with a vengeance. Same sore, scratchy throat and I’m stuffed up big time. I have never had a cold like this one and I hope it has no intentions of sticking around for long. I just don’t have time for it.

Well, the legs are covered again since getting back from Florida. It might have something to do with the fact that as I write this particular post, it’s -12 and that is just a wee bit cold, but summer is off on the horizon somewhere, so I might as well take care of the skin starting now. While in Florida, I began using Olay Quench body lotion and I swear, after just one application, my legs seemed not quite so flaky. And I’m talking dry skin… big time!

In a small study of female college students, researchers found that a caffeine supplement seemed to lessen the muscle pain that crops up a day after a challenging workout.

Known as delayed-onset muscle soreness, the pain is common a day or two after a workout that was more intense than normal. Exercise that involves eccentric contraction of the muscles is particularly likely to cause delayed muscle pain.”

Well, it certainly didn’t help me this morning. My back is still killing me… from shoveling snow I would imagine and this morning’s cup of coffee certainly didn’t help. But I did try Activ On and it does seem to work for a few hours. Now I have it in the medicine cabinet in the spare bathroom so that everyone will have access to it in the middle of the night if they need it. Last night I had to get up and go down stairs for an Advil. Nothing like feeling like crap and then having to go downstairs for medication. Why didn’t I think of loading up the medicine cabinet close to the bedrooms??

And maybe I should think seriously about investing in a shovel like the one above! And I’m off to try another cup of coffee… just in case!

My mind is on about a million things a day, as I’m sure his is, so it makes sense that neither of us really hear what the other is saying… or is he just tuning me out lol…

On the other hand, no one ever taught us how to listen effectively, so I thought that today, that would be the topic I would address.

“The ability to listen and understand is one of the most important attributes you can have. In many ways listening is the most crucial of all the communication skills, yet it is probably the most neglected.

Listening should not be confused with hearing. Hearing is merely a physical experience, whereas listening is a complicated process of absorbing, judging and acting upon what you hear.

Proficiency in listening requires effort and practice. Like all communications skills it must be learned. This is partly a matter of breaking some bad habits and partly a matter of forming some new ones. ”

The guidelines provided here are amazing. Without realizing it, I am doing just about everything wrong! Definitely going to have to work on my listening skills over the next couple of months and what I learn just might make for interesting dinner conversation! Might as well share don’t you think!

I’ve been looking for something like this and the prices are outrageous… but not this one isn’t half bad. It’s about 1/4 the price of what I have been seeing lately and you have to admit that this is a whole lot better than practicing in sweats. Even while practicing, you have to look the part… just in case someone walks in on you while you are in the middle of your undulations!
