This product ACTUALLY WORKS. I have struggled with my skin and it's fine lines, big pores and uneven skin tone for years, I'm 23 but just have really terrible skin. I got this a week ago and use it every day and night and my skin has become BEAUTIFULLY soft, and lines have already gone. hopefully for good! This is worth every cent for giving me back my confidence. Even my boyfriend, who doesn't notice much (even new haircuts, dresses etc etc) said my skin is looking amazing. :)

Thank goodness for the great advice from SageMother, thank you! Like any new product on the market which promises incredible results, the ingredients speak for themselves but are usually overshadowed by the hype. But - if you love it - great! However I am surprised (with all due respect to the comments here) that people believe that is must be wonderful because it is flying off the shelves? All that screams to me is that is has phenomenal marketing. Endless products are produced each year which all promise pretty much the same thing - if any of them worked we wouldn't need another product...(but the industry makes billions each year making tons of the stuff) Retin-A is the only thing that can deliver the kind of results proffered by the beauty industry despite their product only containing minute traces of the stuff. Yes it can be very irritating but if used minimally over time it can produce wonderful results for acne and wrinkles.

I have used both Protect & Perfect and Renew and Rewind - both are excellent products. However, when Protect & Perfect was first launched, customers could choose whether they bought it in a bottle or in a tube. Now, it is only available in a bottle. I do not like that, because once you get towards the bottom it is impossible to get the serum out, and I have to throw it away before the end. This is very wasteful, as if I buy a product my only reason for not finishing it before throw away the container is if I don't like it, which is not the case with the serum.

I was in a Boots store in London's Oxford Street today, and another customer was complaining to the sales assistant about the same thing, who incidently was very sympathetic and agreed with us.

Please, please, please, either replace the bottles with tubes, or give us a choice of either. I shall not be buying the product again because I do not like having to throw away some of the contents for no other reason than that I cannot get them out of the bottle.

Found 3 tubes of "Restore and Renew" @CVS in L.A.(almost ALL the CVS stores were out!!) and asked my brother to get it in the UK..sure enough he came back with "Protect&Perfect"... I thought it was a different product...but now I see they are the same except for a few ingredients... Have been using Restore& Renew for 3 days and nights and some other Boots' products...and already see and feel a difference in my skin.... so far...i think it works!!!!!! Will then try the "Protect and Perfect" to see if there is any difference.

When I first heard about this product I did some research by calling the corporate offices of CVS and Target to see why these stores were not selling the same product name. The FDA in this country has not done any testing on Protect & Perfect so it is not allowed to be sold here. The formula was changed from the one sold in the UK which would need FDA approval to one that does not need to be approved and sold as Restore & Renew here. CVS and Target always sold the Boots brand.

There isn't a steroid in Boots, but the number of lubricants might be working against you there.

A condition that could be brought on by topical steroids could be brought on by other factors as well, like the development of a sensitivity to nickel.

I'm wondering if any of the ingrediants in Boots No. 7 Protect & Perfect Beauty Serum could be considered a steroid? Based on the answer from SageMother, (you seem to know what you are talking about!) I am wondering what's in this little bottle besides Retinyl which is obviously good for your skin. I am 30 years old and for about 15 years now I've suffered from only mild acne, nothing of which has been a concern up until now. I have developed a rash on my chin and nose area, from what I've learnt from research (although haven't visited my doctor yet) could be perioral dermatitis and coincidentally started about the time I started using this Boot's serum. Says that this could condition could be brought on by topical steroid creams. Any thoughts??

Retin A .01% is the strongest RX for the skin. You have to start out at a low % like .25%..use it about 3 times a week and work your way up to the highest %. As soon as you notice any reddening stop using it..resume when red goes away. Eventually you can use it every night in the strongest form with no problems. Anything below the .01% can be obtained as Retinol without a perscription......only Retin A RX comes in the strongest form . I use it nightly (again, after 'working my way up)...I'm 58...been using it for 10 years and have very few wrinkles and good skin....and when I starting using it my skin was not good at all.

I am a firm believer in that some things work differently for different people. I am glad to hear that Retin-A is working well for you. It did damage to my skin, and I only used it for a few weeks in one spot on my forehead. I was disappointed to say the least. But it does work wonders on some people, like my Mom, for instance.
