I will admit it, I hate Mineral powder foundations. Something in the mineral powder formula’s do not agree with me. Almost all of the mineral powders I have tried make me itch – terribly. So I don’t use them, and frankly, I do not even try anymore.
To be fair, I am going to point out some of my friends favorite Mineral Powder Foundations,as those who love them, are truly devoted fans.
Probably the most popular brand, or the brand that revolutionized the Mineral Powder Makeup craze is from Bare Escentuals with their bareMinerals. This line boasts a ton of colors and complimentary products. This is the brand I so wish I could use, but I just can’t. You can get the full line at Sephora, QVC, some major department stores, and the Bare Escentuals Boutiques.
Another brand that is seen a lot is Sheer Cover, a Guthy Renker infomercial product. My sister loves Sheer Cover and wears it in the Summer. There is not as broad of a range of colors as in BE, but they offer up great starter kits, and you can always blend to get your perfect shade.
Some more popular brands include Jane Iredale, gloMinerals, Neutrogena Mineral Sheers, Aromaleigh, and Von Natur. Even the drugstore brands such as N.Y.C. and Maybelline have entered into this mineral powder madness.
If you have a favorite brand of mineral powder makeup not mentioned here, please mention it in the comments.

The two best mineral makeups I’ve used are by Lumiere Cosmetics and Everyday Minerals. Neither of these brands uses Bismuth Oxycloride which is what causes the itching in some mineral makeups. These brands also don’t give you that shiny, tinny look to your skin. They are more natural and semi-matte looking. I’ve tried over 40 brands of mineral makeup and these two are winners!!
