Oh dear, I have noticed a few. On my hands. Ugly, little brown, patchy spots. Age spots. I hate them. I want them gone, and better yet, I have been looking into how to prevent age spots in the first place.
The best way to prevent age spots is to protect your skin from the sun by using an effective sunscreen or sun block. Each and every day. I swear I have been lathering sunscreen on my hands throughout the day.
By putting on anti-aging sunscreen each and every day, like I have just started doing, you give your skin a barrier against any further damage as well as protection from the UV rays. These rays are essentially what cause age spots over time.
I am looking into some fade creams, and will report on those soon. I remember trying an anti-aging age spot fade cream from Joan Rivers before, and I will definitely be looking that one up again.
If you have any suggestions, please let me know before I hit the stores next week.

I don’t think I have any of these yet, but I know I won’t be happy about it when I do.
Wow, we’re both going through the same ordeal–trying to find a good fade cream and using sunblock to treat age spots. I’ve been using Neutrogina’s line lately. They claim that their “Helioplex SPF 40″ sun block penetrates below the skin. I’m not certain if that’s the absolute truth because many cosmeceutical companies tend to stretch the truth in order to increase their revenue. But I’m giving it a try. I’m also using their “Even and Clear” moisturizers. I have their day and their night formulas. I’ll let you know my findings.
I saw that sunscreen, and I will definitely pick it up so we can share our thoughts.
Rhea – They are awful, and mine basically came out of nowhere this year. And the spots were instantly becoming darker as I was spending time outside. This is what has prompted me to use more and more sunscreen on my hands. I have a tube right at my kitchen sink, and I have been applying it after each hand washing.
Hi Teri – any luck on those fading creams?
Anything I can do about the spots I have now?
Thanks!
Ali – I am still testing! I plan on bringing on a full report when I have a winner. I have been looking for something to work almost overnight – and i guess that is pretty impossible without going to the dermatologists.
I had a few spots of hyperpigmentation on my cheeks and forehead – like skin dicoloration. I looked around the web and did some research – when I ran across site that had recommended the Made from Earth skin care line. I went to their website (www.madefromearth.com) and found their Rosehip % Hibiscus Face Serum / moisturizer. The description sounded promising, and I figured that I had nothing to lose, so I ordered it.
After about 3 months of use, my skin is looking very nicely toned and the spots are fading rather quickly. Once you apply this moisturizer, you’ll instantly notice how it makes your skin silky smooth.
I find it to smell very pleasant – almost like the hibiscus flower. Overall, don’t expect this product to work immediately, you have to give it a little while, and I assure you that you won’t be disappointed. Plus, for a chemical free and organic face cream the price is just perfect.
