Hump Day Health: Health Screenings.

We constantly hear about the specific health tests we should submit to at certain times in our life. But what tests at what time?

While your Doctor is the number one source for telling you which health screens you should be having at your yearly appointments, I have done some research to find out what health screening’s women should have at certain points in their “older” life. This is a great way to know what to expect when going to the Doctor.

Age 35
Blood Pressure
Mammogram
Pap Test
Colon and Rectal Cancer Screening
Fasting Blood Sugar Test
Height/Weight/BMI

Age 40
Blood Pressure
Mammogram
Pap Test
Cholesterol Screening
Colon and Rectal Cancer Screening
Fasting Blood Sugar Test
Height/Weight/BMI

Age 50 and above
Blood Pressure
Mammogram
Pap Test
Cholesterol Screening
Colon and Rectal Cancer Screening
Fasting Blood Sugar Test
Height/Weight/BMI
Stress Test
Bone Density

If you are scheduled for an appointment and you doctor does not suggest one of these tests, perhaps you should ask the doctor if you would benefit from adding this test to your health plan.

Great post Teri. I might add “Skin Cancer Screening.” But that’s my bias.

Melanoma is the #2 most commmon cancer in women aged 20-29.
