I Like It. So, That’s Too Bad!

Apparently, if you are of a certain age (like 40-ish) and you do not have short, squared tip, french manicured nails, then you are looked at as “different”.
With dark blue nail shades one of the hottest trends this season, I decided to take the plunge and painted my fingernails with MAC’s Nail Lacquer in Whirlwind. I have worn darker shades on my toes before, but not on my fingernails, so it is definitely something new.
Whirlwind is a frosted metallic royal blue with green, blue and purple pearl. And I really like it more than I thought I would.
To those dozen or so of you who negatively commented on my blue nails over the last few days. Too bad – I like it! Keep your opinions to yourself. I like to try the trends, and do not need to be classically refined as you think that a 40 something mother of four should be. While trends are good, following the crowd that thinks they are all that when they are not, just to be considered “in” is not. Definitely, not!

No way! I think french manicures (esp! the squared-tip ones) are so 90’s. Wear whatever makes you happy. I’m wearing China Glaze’s For Audrey (the exact color of a tiffany’s box!) and I love it. I did Navy Venom from Sally Hansen yesterday and it was so pretty, I just didn’t like it on me.

Ooh – I have read about For Audrey. I’ll have to pop into the salon to see if they have it – it sounds gorgeous. Is it too summery for this time of year though?
I’m in my fifities and I do and will continue to wear the dark nail colours that I so luv. At the moment I am into opi siberian nights and opi lincoln park after dark there is another but I have forgotten the name. However when the holiday collections come out in november I will be looking to get wine me dine me. The gist is wear what you like when you like – rules are meant for breaking and conforming way too old for anyone. enjoy wearing whirlwind – your nails deserve to look good and happening.

I LOVE that color too – the heck with those old fogies that dont.

I love the color on your nails. I think you can wear any color you like on your nails at any age. That is something that is fun and appropriate at any age.
Life is short – why wouldn’t you wear what you like? As for taste, there’s a huge difference between wearing something grossly inappropriate for one’s age, build, etc., and a NAIL color that you enjoy! But really – I’ll never understand all the severe limitations put on women’s appearances. Everybody, just lighten up & have a little fun!
