I’m Too Old for This!

I find myself writing tonight as a way to:
1. Lock myself in my office
2. To Vent
3. Get out of the way of my 10 year olds Birthday Party.
For some strange reason, I said yes to a movie party/pizza party/sleep over for my son. The invitations said “Sleep over Optional”, thinking that surely, a few of the boys don’t do sleep overs. But they do. All TEN of them. Add my son, the birthday boy, plus his younger brother into the mix, and I am controlling trying to control 12 – 7, 9, and 10 year olds.
It’s not working out so well. That is why I am here in my office. I put my husband in charge for a little while. And thank God for Caci (my almost 12 year old daughter) tonight, she is quite the camp counselor. My oldest, 15 year old, won’t step foot in the house until they are gone. He is the smart one. I wish I were with him enjoying a movie over Grandma and Grandpas tonight.
I am too old for this. Really, why did I think this would be fun?
Oh yeah, to see the joy on my son’s face knowing that all 10 boys that he invited came, and nonetheless wanted to come, and all sleep over. And they brought presents – good presents. Yeah – that’s why.
But still. I am getting old!!!

Hi Teri,
You have very interesting blog on aging…I am new here wanted to say hi.
Well your son might have enjoyed a lot with is party and the ten of his friends. You did good job but sometime when we get tired or feel stressed all we just want to do is relax.
