Instant Stress Busters

As you get closer to the menopause years, you are going to notice that anything can set you off. Your anxiety levels can bounce around and everyone around you will learn to watch what they say or do around you… just so that you don’t go ballistic on them. So be prepared. You are going to need your own instant stress busters.
I originally wrote this for women approaching their menopausal years, but Carmi got me thinking. Regardless of your sex or how old you are, you really need to learn how to relax. Being pulled in so many directions, I’m not sure that many people know how to do that anymore. So,
more than ever, you need a list of stress busters of your own. Just don’t wait as long as I did to put them into practise.
You can start making your list so that you have a zillion to choose from, but I’m going to start you off with a few of mine.
1. Go to your meditation corner and do some deep breathing and mind clearing. I actually turned a bedroom into my own little sanctuary and try to visit it every day.
2. Put on a CD and just drift to the music.
3. Lose yourself in a novel. You always have time to read. It’s the rule now.
4. Do nothing for a half hour. This has to be the hardest one for me to do. I hate sitting still. But I have found something soothing about just looking out the window. I’m up to 5 minutes!!
5. Put on a pot of coffee and indulge.

Great advice…for any age.
I’m going to make an effort to try to reduce the wattage in my own life. Things are spinning too quickly these days. Time to slow down or risk missing all the fun.
If you start early, it is a lot easier. I should have done this years ago. I’m even trying to talk my husband into meditating. At the moment, it’s not going so well. He’s on over-drive 24/7 and that’s not good. I think that everyone needs to learn how to slow down… At some point, it might save your life!
They say….that coffee, or more specifically caffine is a trigger for HOT FLASHES. So the menopausal among you may want to MENO size that pot to a demi cup.
