Making Progress – A Look into My Home.

Most of you don’t know too much about me, but I am going to give you a little peak into my home life right now. I am more than half way through a huge home remodeling project, and my kitchen is brand new! YEAH!
Granted only 1/2 of the kitchen is done, and my humungous refrigerator/freezer (it will go on the wall opposite from the sink, next to the wall oven) is on back order and not due in until the end of the month. Everything else is functional. I feel we have made so much progress in the last few weeks. So much so that I volunteered to hold a large family gathering last night – 32 people – and cooked for them all in my new digs!

Ignore that painters tape around the cook top – more grouting needs to be completed on my custom arch, and I still haven’t found the right wall plates for my electrical outlets. And I ran out of some of the door handles, so those will be back on after tomorrow. (Seems the contractor doesn’t know how to count!) Other than that, the cooking portion of the kitchen is almost complete.
The eating area, which is not pictured will be started tomorrow. We are having a custom booth-like seating area constructed that will be made out of the same materials as my cabinets. That should be finished just in time for the frig/freezer to come in, and then I should be able to call it finished.
I swear that I will never do another kitchen again. This is my 4th kitchen in this house, but we never moved walls and plumbing – so this was major over-haul.
Have you ever re-done your kitchen? Would you do it again?

We’ll be renovating ours later this year… finger crossed it turns out as well as yours has!
I’d love to see ‘before’ photos too if you’ve got them.
looks great! i love it
Thanks Steve! I love it too!
I can’t wait until it is 100% finished and all of the dust has finally settled.
Oh Teri, that is amazing! And I think you are insane for having 32 people over – regardless of the remodeling state of your home – yikes!!!
Thanks, Christina! I have become a clean freak – or fanatic. I will be the first to admit that I went wrong with the black granite counters, stainless steel appliances, and the dark wood floor. What was I thinking? I have 4 kids who love to touch things and spill things, and get they finger prints and food everywhere! UGH!
I will post pictures of the other side of the kitchen soon. Right now they are working on my custom booth (not my idea, and I am not sure if I am going to like it in the end. I have to run and order a few more cabinets for that wall, but at least we are functional.
Bargain Queen- I will try to dig up some before pictures for you. I stupidly didn’t start taking pictures of the progress until everything was ripped out!
