Ovarian Cancer Awareness Month.

I am just back to writing as I got in very early this morning from New York City for New York Fashion Week. I met with some great brands and cannot wait to share with you what is the latest and greatest on the anti-aging forefront and continue with my beyond skin care finds.

In the mean time, I wanted to alert you to the fact that September is Ovarian Cancer Awareness Month. L’Oréal spokeswomen Kerry Washington and Eva Longoria, will be lending their talents to help bring awareness to this deadly disease and will be appearing in a PSA campaign to raise awareness of ovarian cancers signs and symptoms.

In an effort to raise funds, L’Oreal has released some very special product offerings. There is a Color of Hope Cosmetics Bag, Hope Necklace, and Makeup Collection.

L’Oréal Paris will be offering the Color of Hope Cosmetics Bag, which includes key products from the Color of Hope Makeup Collection. With every purchase of the Color of Hope Cosmetics Bag, L’Oréal Paris will donate $5.00 to the Ovarian Cancer Research Fund (OCRF). This universally flattering collection is yours only for $25.00 (plus shipping) at L’Oréal Paris retail stores, or at 1-888-270-7743, while supplies last.

The L’Oréal Paris Color of Hope Makeup Collection is every bit as inspiring, on-trend and fashion-forward, as they are hopeful. Featuring products for eyes, lips and nails, the collection is based on the universally flattering shade of mauve with vibrant teal packaging accents – the color symbolizing ovarian cancer awareness. L’Oréal Paris will donate $2.00 to the OCRF from the purchase of each Color of Hope Colour Riche Lipcolour, available in three shades: A Color of Hope, A Lighter Shade of Hope, and A Deeper Shade of Hope. The collection, including the Colour Riche Lipcolours, will be available during the month of September at mass-market retailers nationwide.

The L’Oréal Paris Hope Necklace was designed by 2008 Swarovski Award for Accessory Design recipient Philip Crangi and features a double eternity ring design of cubic zirconia set in sterling silver. One ring is worn for remembrance and one ring is worn as a symbol of hope for the future. The Hope Necklace will be available for $29.95 beginning in this month at lorealcolorofhope.com. $5.00 of the purchase price of each L’Oréal Paris Hope Necklace will benefit OCRF.

Over the last decade L’Oréal Paris has helped to raise more than $14 million for the cause and has been instrumental in bringing much needed awareness to this disease, which claims the lives of more than 15,000 women each year.

One Response to “Ovarian Cancer Awareness Month.”

I think it is wonderful that September has been designated as Ovarian Cancer Awareness Month. As a recently diagnosed member of the “ovarian club” I have a special interest. The most disappointing thing about this is the lack of publication. I just happened to be browsing for information on ovarian cancer-general information, alternate or new treatments, or promotional items. Currently in my town there is a car giveaway being sponsored for breast cancer, I assume to be given away next month during breast cancer awareness month. Yesterday I spent part of the day at the local quilt shop for Teal Tuesday. My sister works at the quilt shop and the owner and other coworker are close friends. They have been my biggest supporters. The 3 of us wore teal but other than that there were no other promotions. I have told several people about Ovarian cancer awareness month, Teal Tuesday and teal being the color for ovarian cancer. Even my oncologist’s office and the nurses at the hospital where I received my chemo didn’t know about it until I told them. Also while at my oncologist’s office looking at reading material he had available there was very little on ovarian cancer but quite a bit concerning breast cancer. One of the nurses told my husband and I that they treated very few ovarian cancer patients. Of the 25-30 patients we met during my treatment only 2 of us have ovarian cancer and the other patient was being treated for the 4th time. Needless to say there is a lot lacking in making people aware of Ovarian Cancer
