Aging Fabulous

Protecting Your Skin From the Sun

Hawaiian Tropic-Ozone Sunblock, The Ultimate, SPF 70, 4-Ounce Bottles (Pack of 2)“It is important to only purchase sunscreens that read “Broad-Spectrum” on the label, this will ensure protection from both UVA and UVB rays. Most sunscreens protect against UVB rays, which affect the top layer of the skin and are responsible for burning, but it is just as important to protect against UVA rays, which affect the lower layers of the skin and are responsible for aging. According to Christina Valentine, brand awareness and educational manager for Bare Escentuals and MD Formulations, you should lather up twenty minutes before sun exposure to ensure that it is fully absorbed into your skin. She also suggests re-applying your lotion every hour.”

And that includes your feet too. With some of us literally living in sandals, that is a lot of sun to the tops of your feet! Be sure to include them when you apply your sunblock… several times a day!

I rarely sit in the sun, and it it occurs that I must, I use a strong sunblocker. I didn’t know it came in 70 strength. We have 50

No, I didn’t know that it went this high either, but I went looking and this was the highest that I found! Seeing that we rarely use enough anyway, I thought the higher the better!
