Yes, I have purchased a lot of lip glosses in pots without thinking, but luckily you are finding more and more being packaged with their own brushes. Now how about something like this for your collection?? Just look at all the colors you get to mix and match!
And all of those pots I mentioned… I am saving old lip gloss wands for that very purpose.

Other than the fact that the bigger the eye shadow pan, the more they can charge you, I don’t understand why they can’t give you a smaller amount that you can use up in six months. When you are paying big bucks for eye shadow, it really hurts to throw it away because it is getting old.

I can’t believe that I am including this little reminder, but just yesterday, I saw a woman applying mascara in the car. Whatever was she thinking? Please, don’t take chances with your eyesight.
And another thing, if your mascara is over three months old, it’s time to replace it. I hate to think about all the bacteria that is growing in there and one little scratch and that bacteria would go straight into your eye!
And one thing about this particular mascara… it’s kind of interesting. The formula forms tiny tubes around the lashes that simply slide off.

I used to have one and I have to admit that I really enjoyed reading in bath amid all the bubbling water, but I just finished reading something that made me feel just a little queasy. A test was done on teaspoons of water taken from the tap and then from a whirlpool bath. I really wouldn’t have expected there to be any difference, but I would be wrong… in a big way.

Apparently, a teaspoon of water taken from your tap contains about 138 bacteria. I don’t even like to think about that when I’m drinking the stuff. But in a teaspoon of water taken from the whirlpool tub, we are talking a couple of million.

It makes sense once you start to think about it. The lining of the pipes connected to your tub are a great place for bacteria to grow and if you don’t flush them out on a regular basis, it just keeps on growing.

And it’s nice to know that this can lead to urinary track infection… and that’s the mildest of the infections listed. Well, that made my decision for me. I’m sticking to a regular tub or on second thought, showers are starting to sound better and better.

*Note… if you already have a whirlpool bath, I would suggest that you contact the dealer and ask what you would need to flush out the pipes. There may be a kit available, or it might be as simple as running the bath with bleach added to the water.

Yes, I should know better, but I don’t always follow my own advice. I reached for a tube of mascara yesterday without thinking about how old it might possibly be, and twisted off the lid. I should have taken a quick sniff., but I was in a hurry. I applied enough to lengthen my lashes and then I noticed the oddest smell. And it wasn’t pleasant! I then realized that it was coming from my lashes. The mascara had gone off! I don’t even want to think about how much bacteria had to be in the tube to smell that bad! And if I as much as scratched my eye while applying it, all of that bacteria would have gone straight into the scratch.

With cataracks running in the family (thanks to Diabetes) , I’m not taking any chances with my eyes and I removed the mascara as quickly as possible and tossed the tube into the garbage. Today, I’m tossing out a lot of makeup.

Trouble is, unless you use your makeup on a daily basis and a lot of it, when it comes time to toss it, it still looks half full. That hurts and sometimes I just don’t do it. Well, not any more. Saving a few bucks just isn’t worth it!
