For years we have been hearing and learning of the benefits of Flax. As an oil, in a seed form, or as a powder.

What’s all the fuss about Flax you say?

For years we have been hearing and learning of the benefits of Flax. As an oil, in a seed form, or as a powder. Flax is a blue-flowered plant that grows in cool northern climates of the western Canadian prairies and northern U.S. It’s benefits are endless and my favorite is how it has improved the appearance of my skin in general.

Why flax? Why now? Flax’s high content of lignans may help prevent certain cancers, and its high fiber content can reduce blood cholesterol and the risk of type-2 diabetes. Did you also know that these little seeds are the best source of lignans, natural anti-oxidants that can reduce the activity of cell-damaging free radicals, which in turn can slow the aging process. Who wouldn’t want that?

Flax is added to so many products on today’s grocery shelves because of the omega-3 fatty acids, lignans, and fiber found in the seed, all of which help to deliver a huge boost to your overall wellness.

There are so many ways you can enjoy flax and in return you will be keeping your body healthy and feeling great. In your everyday diet you can substitute 3 Tbsp of Flax for 1 Tbsp. of Margerine, butter, or cooking oil. Sprinkle 1 to 2 Tbsp over your yogurt or cereal, either milled or whole. Instead of sunflower seeds, why not sprinkle some Flax seeds over your salad?

Since reading about Flax and also being someone who is trying to grow old gracefully, I was very excited to hear about all of the things Flax can do for you. Some I never even knew about. I have been including Flax in my meals regularly and although I do like to think I have a healthy diet I have definitely noticed a difference in how I feel as well.

If you do decide to start adding Flax to your diet, and I hope you do, begin to do it slowly. Because of its high content of fiber you should start with about a tablespoon a day and work your way up to two or more per day.

If you are interested in learning more about Flax, along with great tips, recipes, and more benefits on regular use of Flax in your diet. Please visit Healthyflax.com and make sure to check out Flax 101 for any questions you might about Flax. This is the best website for anything you need to know about Flax and very user friendly too.

Here’s to a healthy, beautiful, body at any age!

xx,

Maintaining beauty with age comes from passion and creativity. You have to get up every day thinking about what you can do rather than what you can’t. I can’t conceive of being bored because I’m constantly thinking about new things to create. I’m working on a homemade line of purses while producing movies and trying to come up with scripts. On a daily basis I need a creative space in which to function. I’ll surround myself with pencil drawings, photos of an image I want to paint or designs for a purse I want to make.”

And that is just the beginning of the interview. Jane then gets down to specifics… talking about the kinds of exercises that work for her, what she thinks of coffee and red wine, her experience with Botox, and then even her preferences for the cosmetics she uses. And oh yes, she also talks about her hair.

The article is three pages long, and I read the entire interview. Most of the time, I don’t get that far. If I get bored, I move on to something else. It didn’t happen this time.
