Where shall I begin. Over the years Botox has gotten a lot of press. Some good, some not so good. Comments like “you’re putting botulism into your body” is the most popular one. However, according to celebrity dermatologist Dr. Celia Brown this is not true.

“Botox is a purified protein of a bacterium and is extremely safe and not a form of botulism,” says Dr. Brown. It freezes the targeted muscles which cause frown lines, furrowing your brow, and those wonderful crows feet. Botox injections last any where between 3 to 6 months and diminish all those lines that you grow to hate. The result is smooth flawless skin.

The results are temporary but I have yet to find a cream that can do what Botox does. The choice is yours. Stop smiling and look unpleasant all day or call for some Botox.

The proof is in the pudding!

Last night I attended a very informative event at Dr. Celia Brown’s office in Woodland Hills, Ca. She talked about all of the myths associated with Botox. My best friend who has always been against Botox injections started crossing over to the Happy side of anti-aging last night. FINALLY…

Botox...should I or shouldn’t I? Well, girls I’ll tell you…YOU SHOULD!!!

Last night I attended a very informative event at Dr. Celia Brown’s office in Woodland Hills, Ca. She talked about all of the myths associated with Botox. My best friend who has always been against Botox injections started crossing over to the Happy side of anti-aging last night. FINALLY…

It is a purified protein of a bacterium. It is home grown in Irvine, California at the main headquarters of Allergan. It arrives to Dr. Brown’s office in powder form where she then mixes it with water before injecting. It is extremely safe, it’s not a form of botulism, and it can be your BFF for life when injected by the right Doctor.

The chemical goes straight to the muscle where injected and then temporarily paralyzes it. Results are seen as quick as 2 – 3 days, most likely in 7 days, and maximum effect in 14 days. The temporary Botox effect can last between 2 – 8 months depending on your metabolism and the Doctors skill.

Common areas of injection are the forehead, frown lines between your eyebrows, and crows feet.

With so many people taking an active interest in their health, and making choices to improve their lifestyle, It make sense that the latest products to create such a buzz are flying off the shelves.

With that said I urge you to check out the product line that Oprah spoke so highly of on her show, and one I have been using for the last month. Super Collagen Powder, and tablets from NeoCell help to improve your body from the inside out. When my sister Te-see and I received an email asking us to try NeoCell’s products, we responded immediately, so excited to try! We were curious to see what all the hype on Oprah was about, and if these products really worked.

I have so many friends and family members who think they are getting the correct amount of each supplement, but who knows if they really are? Experts are saying that you can actually overdose on your Vitamin intake…well who needs that! That’s why it is so important to speak with a Health Specialist, especially if you are unsure. Don’t just go out and buy Vitamin E “because you heard it was good for your skin.” It might not be so good for your liver, and other vital organs.

I began using the collagen powder during the holidays, and was even more eager after reading Ally’s blog on ebeautydaily. I tried the Collagen+C pomegranate liquid and the Super Collagen+C Type I & III. I was sick at the time with a bad cold and felt so much better after taking the Pomegranate liquid. I felt like myself again, but the real proof for me was when I began taking the Collagen Powder and after two weeks noticed how shiny and thick my hair was. Next was my skin, which I can honestly say looks brighter and has a glow that was not there before I started taking.

Their products are made of pharmaceutical food-grade hydrolyzed bovine-skin collagen, NOT whole gelatin. The tablets are formulated with Vitamin C which is absolutely essential to collagen formation. I recommend the Collagen powder which goes right into your bloodstream and starts working immediately. Some of the benefits include, replenishing your own body’s collagen supply, muscle growth, builds bone matrix, corrects weak, broken, split, ridged and damaged nails, adds body and slow downs hair loss, repairs connective tissues for improved elasticity: blood vessels to help improve circulation, promotes wound healing, a clearer complexion, and builds lean muscle.

You can purchase the products online and see for yourself how quickly they work. I am already on my second container of powder and it looks like I am going to be a life long fan of NeoCell.

Kisses,

So, you have to check out Lianne’s (The Makeup Girl) follow up on her Botox procedure. Her before and after pictures are amazing. She even made a little video about it. I am in awe!

So, I went to a small Doctor’s spa in my town yesterday to get a little insight. I was told that I would be better off with one of a few types of peels for my sun spots, freckles and hyperpigmentation. He also suggested that I could start off with a more gentle microdermabrasion treatment and follow up with Retin A ointment in a very low dose first. He felt that I would not benefit from Botox yet. (WHAT???) He said he could only see my lines when I did these funny facial movements and they relaxed on their own really quickly. He made a type of mention that I was “blessed with fattier skin” that does not wrinkle as quickly. (Ok – I am fat. I get it!!!)

Well, I hate Retin A. I blame it on the hyperpigmentation that I have. So, I think that is out of the question. I know that I would benefit from microdermabrasion and a peel. But I was thinking I wanted a more instant fix with Botox.

Decisions, decisions.

I will be in NYC this weekend and found a great walk-in Botox clinic called SmoothMed. I will be making a little walk-in visit and see what the good Doctor’s there have to say.

There have been some pretty cool conversations going on in Twitter about Botox. And I cannot believe the number of people – gorgeous people – who are much younger than me, that get Botox. So I wonder, is everyone really doing Botox?

The talk of Botox came up in Twitter as a beautiful beauty blogger Lianne was about to get her first dose. That very same day, a random woman invited me to her Botox party. So, Lianne is the same age as me, and I obviously look like I could use some, as a near stranger thought I should have a bit of Botox too. I think I might do it. Well, at least I am making an appointment to see what the good doctor has to say.

Either way, I thought it was time to learn more about Botox and what it exactly does. Now, I thought I new all there was to know about Botox – apparently I don’t. So here is the info for you too, right from the makers of Botox.

What exactly is BOTOX® Cosmetic?
BOTOX® Cosmetic is a purified protein produced by the Clostridium botulinum bacterium. It is a nonsurgical, physician-administered treatment that can temporarily reduce moderate to severe frown lines between the brows in people 18 to 65 years of age. During treatment, very low doses of BOTOX® Cosmetic are administered via a few tiny injections directly into the muscles that cause those stubborn lines. The treatment is usually done in about 10 minutes, and no recovery time is needed. Within days, you may see an improvement that can last up to 4 months. Results may vary.

How does BOTOX® Cosmetic work?
Those moderate to severe frown lines between your brows form over time as the result of muscle activity. BOTOX® Cosmetic is injected directly into the muscles between your brows. It works by blocking the transmission of nerve impulses to the injected muscles; this reduces the activity of the muscles that cause those persistent lines to form.

When will I see results from a BOTOX® Cosmetic treatment?
Within days, you may see a marked improvement in the moderate to severe frown lines between your brows. Lines continue to improve for up to a month, and results can last for up to 4 months. In clinical trials, nearly 90% of men and women rated the improvement in their appearance as moderate to better 1 month after treatment. Results may vary.

How long does BOTOX® Cosmetic last?
Results from treatment with BOTOX® Cosmetic can last for up to 4 months. If you discontinue treatment, the frown lines between your brows gradually will look like they did before treatment.

Who should administer BOTOX® Cosmetic?
Any authorized healthcare professional can administer BOTOX® Cosmetic, but dermatologists, plastic surgeons, ophthalmologists, otolaryngologists (ear, nose, and throat doctors), or other physicians specializing in cosmetic procedures are generally more experienced. One of these physicians can help you decide if BOTOX® Cosmetic is right for you.

To get the most in depth and complete information about the treatment process, I would definitely recommend reading more at BotoxCosmetic.com.

If and when I do it – well, it is more a matter of when, I will update you with my thoughts and pictures. In the meantime, be sure to follow Lianne over at The Makeup Girl. She said she will be posting her before and after pictures tomorrow and I cannot wait to see those!

I ask again – is everyone doing Botox? Have you had Botox? Are you considering it?

Love how the patient was given a Valium before the four procedures. I wonder if just a Valium would be enough for me.
What do you think of this? Did it make you want to have one of these procedures more or less than you did before? The jury is still out for me on the injections, but for the Thermage [...]
Post from: Aging Fabulous

I have read rave reviews of Juvéderm™, with most users being pleased with both the smooth look they get and the longer lasting results.
Unlike BOTOX® Cosmetic, Juvéderm™ is a gel made of hylauronic acid that provides volume under the skin, in a sense filling in the lines. Whereas BOTOX® Cosmetic, freezes or relaxes the muscles to relax deeper lines.

Juvéderm™ is an injectable gel, that is injected under the skin to smooth facial lines. This newest promise of smooth skin is brought to us by the makers of BOTOX Cosmetic.

From the official Juvéderm™ website, here is their description:

As we age, our skin changes. Over time, the natural volume of youthful skin begins to diminish as wrinkles and folds form. But, with Juvéderm™ injectable gel, you don’t have to just sit back and let it happen! Recently approved by the FDA, Juvéderm™ injectable gel is a “next-generation” dermal filler. The smooth consistency gel helps to instantly restore your skin’s volume and smooth away facial wrinkles and folds, like your “smile lines” or “parentheses” (nasolabial folds—the creases that run from the bottom of your nose to the corners of your mouth).

Juvéderm™ is a smooth consistency gel made of hyaluronic acid—a naturally occurring substance in your skin that helps to add volume and hydration. Your healthcare professional eases Juvéderm™ injectable gel under the skin to provide a smooth, natural look and feel—so everyone will notice (but no one will know)! In fact, studies show superior results of Juvéderm™ compared to a collagen-based dermal filler.* And, almost 90% of all study volunteers who were treated with both Juvéderm™ injectable gel and another dermal filler* preferred Juvéderm™! In addition, Juvéderm™ injectable gel is the first FDA-approved hyaluronic acid dermal filler that is proven to be safe and effective for persons of color.

The procedure, performed in a physicians office, lasts just about 15 minutes. The results last most users 6 months or more. The average cost per treatment is anywhere from $350 – $500.

If you have used Juvéderm™, please share your results. We promise to keep your name and any personal information confidential, and will only share your experience.

I want to pass along an interesting article that was published a few months ago in the New York Times.
It is an eye-opening read about pharmaceutical companies and their fight to be the best in wrinkle fillers.
And in case you are wondering, when it does come time when I feel the need to get plumped up, I plan on it. But I am hoping that by the time I need it, in the next 15 years or so (wishful thinking, I know), the costs will have significantly decreased.

For now I will continue to rely on my large mass of anti-aging products that I use regularly, for their anti-aging wonder products. Who knows, maybe I will not need any filling at all?

If you have used a wrinkle filler, I would love to hear your experience.

A smile has laughingly been referred to as an inexpensive way to improve one’s looks. But now the smile, usually known for exuding cheerfulness, is getting attention, too, for its devilish side effect: Over the years — and together with its displeased conspirator, the frown — a smile can leave behind age-revealing facial lines.
Have you noticed this line that runs from the side of your nose, and then on down past your mouth? If you have it, are you considering or will you ever consider Botox? And this goes for my male readers too!
