Oprah: Five Big, Fat Beauty Lies

As a teen, summer days were spent in the quest for the perfect tan. With cocoa butter and baby oil, my friends and I baked in the midday sun.
Fast forward to adulthood and the breaking news health headline reads: “Eighty percent of your lifetime sun damage occurs before age 18.”
The information has come too late for us, as we are now well past the teen years. The consensus? We are toast. Literally. Left to wait for the sun skin damage to start revealing itself in premature wrinkles and worse yet, skin cancer.
But wait. According to adjunct assistant professor …read more

Too Wicked for Words

Maybe winter won’t be so bad afterall. The minute that I saw that chocolate was involved, the product line had my attention. And then there was the fact that you could use it as a body wash, a bubble bath or a shampoo, sounded almost too good to be true. And oh yes, you can top off the experience with a body lotion or a shimmery body creme. Now tell me that these products …read more

Your Fall Look

Just in case you have been wondering how to update your summer makeup to one perfect for the fall months to come, I tripped over this while looking for shoes. Just never know what you are going to find, but I’m glad I went looking. I like what Bobbi Brown has come up with.
She has new “chocolate” colors picked out for the eyes, cheeks and lips.
“Chocolate is the new beauty classic. Warm rich tones makes you look polished without looking overdone.” Bobbi Brown

Scent by Alexis

You know me and packaging… especially when it comes to fragrances. The bottle has to look just as good as the fragrance smells. Well, meet “classically trained painter Alexis Karl, Scent by Alexis is an exquisite line of hand-blended fragrances, works of art in both their composition and their presentation. Each is carefully created with all-natural oils and all the precision of the time-honored art of perfume (Alexis counts the elixirs and potions of ancient Greece, Egypt and China among her inspirations). Her scents are like nothing else on the market – warm, organic, complex, and entirely unique.”

Chocolate May Boost Brain Power

“A new US study hints that eating milk chocolate may boost brain function.
“Chocolate contains many substances that act as stimulants, such as theobromine, phenethylamine, and caffeine,” Dr Bryan Raudenbush, from Wheeling Jesuit University in West Virginia, said in comments to Reuters Health. ”

And all this time, I simply thought that it made us feel good! And I just finished whipping up a batch of bran muffins because I thought that they would he a healthy dessert. Now I’m wondering if I should have made a batch of fudgy brownies??
