Cover Girl Outlast Lipstain

These little lip markers are so easy to use for sheer, lasting color and ten beautiful shades to choose from. My personal favorite’s are Wild Berry Wink, and Flirty Nude. Great for adding some quick color to your lips and no mess using your fingers, or a having to pull out a lip brush.

All colors are water-based and give your lips a beautiful, lightweight flush of color that lasts for hours. The pen like precision makes it so much easier to define your lips and give you the perfect application. Compared to other lipstains that are more than twice the price, this is a beauty steal at $9.

Revlon Age Defying Spa Foundation

I was on my way to a shoot and needed something a little more sheer than the creams I usually use in my palette. I decided since I was a little pressed for time that I would run into Target. Lately they have started to added quite an array of beauty lines, so I thought why not.

After spending way too much time checking out the latest beauty additions from Celebrity Artists I’ve never heard of, and none of which were very impressive, I landed in front of the Revlon display and found this little gem, Age Defying Spa Foundation. Of course the stunning Elle Macpherson is the model who is claiming that she needs to be worrying about her aging skin, but for myself who is aging fabulously, and  samples everything before using on anyone else, I was very impressed.

Each tube comes with a built-in-brush that gives you the perfect application. Infused with Vitamin C, antioxidants, and an SPF of 18. The coverage was excellent and left my skin, as well as the models on the shoot looking radiant and bright.

There is Lead in Lipstick. Is it Lethal?

red_lipstick_kiss As many of you have probably seen on all of the newspaper and television reports that a study has been published about the different amounts of lead in lipsticks. Who sponsored and published the study? The Campaign for Safe Cosmetics.

I am a skeptic, as I always am. I do not know how much credit I put into the report as it is a bit biased. I would feel better and maybe worry more if the study were produced by the FDA or a medical community. My thoughts are that most, MOST, of the lipsticks that were tested, actually contained smaller amounts of lead that are allowed by the FDA in candy. Now, candy is often eaten by children, is it not? Nah, I am not very worried. I do not eat my lipstick ;) even though I know a bit of it must get ingested.

I have heard that this could be a PR nightmare, but as I have not heard one thing from any of the PR people I work with, they are not worried. I have worked with many of the brands that were mentioned in the report, and I am sure they are aware of it.

Bobbi Brown: The New Metallics.

If anyone knows how to make cosmetics for women of all ages, it is Bobbi Brown. Her collections are timeless. Her palettes are truly some of my favorites.

Bobbi just launched a collection of palettes, exclusively for Nordstrom. These are the Metallics.

Could it be more beautiful? This is the Burnt Sugar Metallics palette. These shimmery, highly pigments shadows are adorning my eyes today. And they are beautiful! The powders are so soft, that they almost feel creamy. The shadows are formulated for all-day wear, and my lids are showing no signs of creasing.

Pictured from left to right: Toffee, Gold Dust and Burnt Sugar. I used Gold Dust over my entire eye lid, from lash line to the top of my brow. I then applied Burnt Sugar over most of my lid, just not bringing it all the way into the inner corner, near my nose. I used a bit of the Toffee shade in my crease, and extended it upward and outward, to give my eye a bit of a smoky look. Finally, I dipped my eyeliner brush into Toffee as well, and lined my upper and lower lash line. Beautiful!!!

There are three more Metallic palettes, including Mignight Metallics that feature Platinum, Rockstar and Midnight; Velvet Plum Metallics which feature Raisin, Champagne Quartz and Velvet Plum; and Forest Metallics, with the shades Sage, Balsam and Forest.

Each Bobbi Brown Metallics palette sell for $45, and are exclusive to Nordstrom.

Finding the perfect shade of lipstick

custom-lipsticks.jpgThrough trial and error, you find the perfect shade of lipstick. What do you do when you discover your favorite shade of lipstick has been discontinued? You can: scour the web trying to find someone who still carries stock; open the makeup drawer and attempt to mix and match shades of lipstick that did not work into one that does; or you can visit Three Custom Color Specialists.

Three Custom Color Specialists specializes in recreating discontinued lip color shades. Simply send in a sample (instructions on how to do this are on the website) and the trio of experts will analyze the shade and texture to replicate the sample. If, while wearing your favorite lipstick, you thought to yourself, “I love this but wish it had a more matte finish — or more of a shine”, let them know and they can alter the texture of your favorite lipstick into becoming the absolutely perfect favorite lipstick. If it is already perfect just the way it is, they will simply replicate it exactly as the sample you send in.

Three Custom Color Specialists keeps the recipe used to recreate your lipstick on file, and your favorite lipstick will always be available for you. In addition, they offer custom blending of blush, eye shadow, brow powder, cream concealer and face powder. Visit Three Custom Color Specialists for more information.

How-to create a rested look in five easy steps

We live hectic lives. Some mornings we can look as tired as we feel. If the image in the mirror is not reflecting back a bright-eyed expression, or skin that glows with youthful radiance, More Magazine’s Lois Joy Johnson, in Beauty products that help you fake a rested look, outlines a simple five-step plan to help us look more vibrant than we may feel at the moment.

roc-facial-peel.jpgOf the five steps, we like her recommendation of RoC Resurfacing Facial Peel Kit as an exfoliator. The at-home facial resurfacing treatment works to smooth the appearance of fine lines, lifts dead skin to reveal smooth surface skin, and evens skin tone.

In our opinion, RoC’s line of products is inexpensive in comparison to other products offering the same results, and is as effective as the more expensive beauty products.

Former model Lauren Hutton is a phenomenal beauty and an icon that looking beautiful knows no age limitation. The second recommendation we like is Hutton’s Concealer Kit Makeup. The mirrored compact contains two shades of Sheer Concealer and eight shades of Spot Concealer to help achieve a flawless, natural complexion.

Preschool Songs

I went to the 30th reunion of my preschool. I didn’t want to go, because I’ve put on, like, a hundred pounds.

Wendy Liebman

I should have saw the punchline coming, but I didn’t. Must be the mood I’m in. And yes, I’m entitled to be in a bitchy mood every once in a while ;) It’s Monday after all. Is there anyone alive who really likes Mondays??

Could You Be a Model?

dove“Dove soaps continues their North American “Campaign for Real Beauty” advertising with a television commercial that explores the alterations that can be done on models.

Labeled “a Dove film”, the commercial is entitled “evolution”. Beginning with a woman walking into a photo shoot. From there, she is primped and plucked by hair and makeup artists, then tweaked on a Photoshop-like program.”

Did you ever wonder what you could look like if you had your own entourage of hair and makeup artists?? Makes you wonder doesn’t it??

Dove has a little film that explains a lot!

Eye Shadows By Cargo

Cargo eye shadow

About a zillion fabulous colors to choose from… which in itself, makes it incredibly hard to buy just one! So I don’t ;)

And then there is the silkiness of the shadows. They go on like a dream and last the entire day. Can’t say that I have found that to happen with very many other shadows!

*While I don’t particularly care for the colors they have featured, trust me, they have so many that you are going to love!

Jane Seymour: Better Than Ever

Jane Seymour“What is your philosophy on beauty and aging?

Maintaining beauty with age comes from passion and creativity. You have to get up every day thinking about what you can do rather than what you can’t. I can’t conceive of being bored because I’m constantly thinking about new things to create. I’m working on a homemade line of purses while producing movies and trying to come up with scripts. On a daily basis I need a creative space in which to function. I’ll surround myself with pencil drawings, photos of an image I want to paint or designs for a purse I want to make.”

And that is just the beginning of the interview. Jane then gets down to specifics… talking about the kinds of exercises that work for her, what she thinks of coffee and red wine, her experience with Botox, and then even her preferences for the cosmetics she uses. And oh yes, she also talks about her hair.

The article is three pages long, and I read the entire interview. Most of the time, I don’t get that far. If I get bored, I move on to something else. It didn’t happen this time.
