Review: AminoGenesis Cocoon

AminoGenesis Cocoon Total Body Rejuvenating Emollient caught my eye because it brought to mind the 1985 science fiction film Cocoon about a group of elderly people who were rejuvenated by aliens.
After trying this cream out for a while, I can honestly say that I love this stuff.
It is soothing and non-greasy, as always for me an important factor. It penetrates your skin and feels like it keeps it soft all day long.
I usually have problems shaving and I’ve noticed a change in my skin texture when using Cocoon. I also use it on my feet and it makes …read more

What you can do about dry legs

Well, the legs are covered again since getting back from Florida. It might have something to do with the fact that as I write this particular post, it’s -12 and that is just a wee bit cold, but summer is off on the horizon somewhere, so I might as well take care of the skin starting now. While in Florida, I began using Olay Quench body lotion and I swear, after just one application, my legs seemed not quite so flaky. And I’m talking dry skin… big time!

The Menopause Years

You have been told all of your life to drink more water and it has never been more important than now. If you skin was on the dry side in your younger years, it’s going to be worse now. And while I’m writing this with women in mind, there is nothing stopping men from including more water in their diet either. It might not taste as good as a nice hot cup of coffee, but it has to be better for you. I read somewhere that for every cup of coffee you drink, you are supposed to drink two cups …read more

Cranberry Hand Wash for Christmas

I don’t know if it’s just me or this really has a Christmasy scent. All I know is that I love the shower gel and just found out that The Body Shop has a hand wash in the same scent. There is nothing worse than a product that strips all the oils from your skin. As we age, that’s the last thing we want to happen. Our hands are one of the quickest ways to give away our age, so if it means pampering them, I’m all for it. And this cranberry scented hand wash should keep me going until …read more

L’Occitane Amande Exfoliating & Defining Delicious Paste

It’s finally time for short skirts and bare legs… yes it takes us a bit longer here up here, but that also gives our legs a lot longer to dry out. Thank goodness for little goodies like this. It takes decadent to a whole new level!

Crushed almonds and shells combined with sugar crystals gently exfoliate the body and stimulate cellular activity. This rich blend of almond butter and almond oil improves the appearance of the skin, leaving it feeling smooth and delicately scented.

“To keep your skin looking good, it’s important to treat it, but that can be expensive. NBC 10 talked to a local aesthetician who demonstrated some remedies for your skin that you can do right in your own home. Maygon Larosse-Bean is an aesthetician at Adolf Biecker Salon in Center City.
Dry Skin
1/4 banana
2 tsp. of honey
1 egg
“This is going to add moisture. The honey and banana add nutrients into the skin that it’s lacking from dryness,” Larosse-Bean said.”
And that’s just one of her little recipes. But the one for dry skin caught my eye.

*Have You Tried Body Brushing

I really had no idea how good this could feel until I tried it for the first time. I didn’t even know that you were supposed to, but one summer I noticed that my legs looked really dry and flaky and I certainly didn’t want to go out looking like that. After a little reading, I found that the back brush that was hanging in the shower could be used on other parts of you too! So, the next time you step into the shower, start at your ankles and work your way up. Your hands and arms can benefit …read more
