“Ageless Fantasy” by Harvey Prince is the first Anti-Aging Perfume in the world, and it does just that. I’ve been wearing it for the last month, and am extremely happy to say that all of the young men and women at Gelson’s have commented on how great I smell. They have also inquired about the name of this fantastic fragrance and what a wonderful scent it is. I’ve always believed that scents can alter your mood. Have you ever walked into someones home and the smell instantly reminds you of your mothers cooking so you immediately start to feel good inside? Or a scent you smell while you’re out that brings you back to a happy memory from your childhood? Well, this is the essence behind Ageless Fantasy. I know it’s strange to think that this happens, but unfortunately ladies as we age, our bodies produce more of a chemical called nonenal which occurs due to the breakdown of fatty acids in the skin. According to Japanese scientist Wataru Takekoshi who works for the well known skin care line Shiseido, and one of my favorites, the breakdown results in a type of unsaturated aldehyde which emits an unpleasant “greasy” odor with grassy undertones. Sounds awful, but this is what experts say is the natural body scent of aging. Takekoshi also says that this body odor is rarely found in people who are in their 20’s or 30’s. In one study published by the “Journal of Investigative Dermatology” researchers found that women over 40 have more than twice the levels of 2-Nonenal in their skin than younger women. The same study found women over 40 also have higher levels of Omega 7 and certain other lipids which when broken down in the skin may contribute to a kind of “odor” commonly associated with older people. Well, that stinks if you ask me, but no one has complained about any odors from me so I guess the fragrance is working.

Ageless Fantasy from Harvey Prince has shown in intensive research studies that by wearing certain scents in exact combinations helps to eliminate this “odor” and to alter people’s perception of age. So fascinating really. Their study also went on to show that Ageless Fantasy scored high in the “young and passionate” category as well as the “young and active” category. That’s good news to me!

Clinique, along with all of the other beauty companies that fall under the very big Estee Lauder umbrella are seasoned pro’s when it comes to gift sets. The latest from Clinique is probably one of my favorites so far.

The Happy Thoughts PDA Set is a limited-edition, online exclusive. It is presented in the most oh-so fabulous sleek, silvery PDA case that is just screaming, “yes, I am fabulous,  yes, I love my blackberry and yes, I can have my cake and eat it too!”

I honestly think that my mother could be losing her sense of smell. At 64 years old and diabetic, maybe this is what happening. I have tried to tell her politely that you can smell her rooms away, and that her scent lingers after she is gone.

I recently explained how to layer your fragrance to her. If you don’t know how, you can layer your fragrance by simply using a fragrant body wash and lotion of the same/or similar scents. Then perfume can be used as a refresher, later on in the day. I think that my mother took this wrong. I noticed she has a few new products from Bath and Body Works – all in the same scent. And I think she is layering them all on, and then spritzing herself with the perfume spray to match. Sigh.

How do I tell her politely that she is either doing it wrong or that the scent is not for her. It is obvious that she took (or tried to) my advice. Now, I hate to tell her how “bad” it really smells! To make matters worse, my father even asked me what I gave her. He said he needs to air out the house when she leaves for work!
