The Salt & Pepper Look for Men is Back… Thanks to George Clooney.

I read an interesting article in the New York Times today.  The article is about how men, specifically aging men, are getting partial hair color touch-ups. They are no longer opting for full coverage. Seems men are liking the Salt & Pepper look – a la George Clooney.

I don’t blame them. George rocks the salt & pepper look – as does my husband.
As women, we mostly want to cover each and every gray, and it is nice to know that men are embracing their age.
I love it. What do you think?

The Hair Color Mix Book.

I received one of the best how-to books ever last week. It left me wondering, where it was a month ago when I was dealing with my own hair coloring disasters. As the book is just officially released today, I realize it was no where to be found, but I am happy to have it in my library now.
The book is titled The Hair Color Mix Book, and it is written by Lorri Goddard-Clark. Lorri is one of the most in-demand hair colorists in the world. Not only does she work at the Neil George Salon in Los Angeles, …read more

Who Colors Their Hair?

Who colors their hair? I do, I do!
When I first had my hair colored, it was just highlights. Then I started going lighter and lighter until I reached the lovely shade of light golden blonde that it is now.
Let me tell you though, this color is getting hard to maintain. It is a bit lighter in the Summer months, especially around my face. Yes – right where the grays are. And coloring my roots every week is just out of the question. First off, it is damaging, and secondly – I do not have the time.
Was I ever thrilled to …read more

Where Is All This Hair Coming From?

Seriously – pre-menopause sucks. I am growing strange little hairs in places that I never have before.
For instance, I have a very thick, wiry hair growing out on my collarbone. Strange. I am afraid to pluck it or wax it, so I am just keeping it short by trimming it a few times a week. Then there are the strangely long hairs growing in my eyebrows almost overnight. And plucking these babies hurt. They really hurt. And the long ones are thicker and darker than the normal eyebrow hairs. And the gray hair – these are popping up everywhere – …read more

Bobbi Brown’s Living Beauty.

I saw the famed and fabulous Bobbi Brown on the Today Show a few weeks ago. She was on to promote her new book, Bobbi Brown Living Beauty. She said she decided to write this book as she is about to be 50 herself, and wants to celebrate beauty with women of an older age.
Here are Bobbi’s top ten anti-aging tips from the book.

Renew skin with a retinoid cream.
Erase brown spots with laser resurfacing.
Layer skin-care formulas.
Use concealer to brighten and lighten the under-eye area.
Add a pop of color to cheeks.
Define eyes with liner.
Brighten your face with hair highlights.

Why Parents Get Gray Hair

Why Parents Get Gray Hair

When I first started out with this post idea, it was going to be informative. Why does your hair turn gray, why does it take so long, why does it turn wiry etc. But then I found this and it was so funny that I simply had to share. If you need some humor in your life today, this oughta do it!
Here’s how it starts out…
The boss of a big company needed to call one of his employees about an
urgent problem with one of the main computers. He dialed the
employee’s home phone number and was greeted with a child’s whispered,
“Hello?”

When Your Hair is a Mess!

Never try to establish a successful flirtation when your hair is a mess.

But is there ever a time when you actually like the way your hair looks? Or is it just me?? Especially those little wiry ones. They drive me nuts!

Is that a Gray Hair?

No, it’s not your imagination. The darker your hair, the more noticeable they are. Really makes you wish you were a blonde! But here’s the big question… are you going to cover them up or leave them to shine in all their silver glory. I think I see some changes on the horizon!
How do you feel about your hair and if you have decided to cover them up. what product are you using??

I Think I Just Aged 10 Years

We have one little window in our house that is fake and there is no way to get to it except through a second floor window and then up over the roof. The fake window is another floor up. Two painters arrived yesterday, assured me that they could go through the window, over a multitude of roof lines and paint this window… all without safety equipment.
I tried to call the service trailer a few blocks away and they are all out on lunch. Meanwhile I have two guys scampering across the roof. If they had of fallen, I’m sure …read more
