I don’t blame them. George rocks the salt & pepper look – as does my husband.

As women, we mostly want to cover each and every gray, and it is nice to know that men are embracing their age.

The book is titled The Hair Color Mix Book, and it is written by Lorri Goddard-Clark. Lorri is one of the most in-demand hair colorists in the world. Not only does she work at the Neil George Salon in Los Angeles, she continually is traveling the world to cater to her top coloring clients, some of which are Drew Barrymore (who wrote the forward to the book), Tobey Maguire, Renee Zellweger, Madonna (for her much talked-about Music video and others), Meg Ryan, Brad Pitt, Jennifer Aniston, and many more.

The book has such easy to follow recipes using products simply found at your local drugstore and in your very own kitchen cabinet. There is also a full color chart to determine your exact hair color and tone, and by knowing this, you can easily follow her recipes to get your desired shade.

With easy to follow directions on how to highlight, ribbon, cover grays, tone down color, and more, you can easily become your own hair color expert. I plan to try her ribbon highlighting method to add more blonde to my golden locks. I will definitely let you know how it goes. As, I have never used foil on myself at home, it should definitely be an experience!

When I first had my hair colored, it was just highlights. Then I started going lighter and lighter until I reached the lovely shade of light golden blonde that it is now.

Let me tell you though, this color is getting hard to maintain. It is a bit lighter in the Summer months, especially around my face. Yes – right where the grays are. And coloring my roots every week is just out of the question. First off, it is damaging, and secondly – I do not have the time.

Was I ever thrilled to have discovered Quick Tint. Quick Tint is the instant hair root touch up. It is the immediate, foolproof and portable solution for when your roots are making their debut, or in my case for covering my quickly growing in gray hair.

It comes in a wide range of easy to match colors. The color itself is packaged in a handy pen type applicator, where you simply click the color up, out through the brush. A tiny bit is all you need, but you must brush it through to make it even, and natural looking. You can do it by way of the brush on the end of the applicator, or by using it the way I do. For instance, I have a very thick, wiry hair growing out on my collarbone. Strange. I am afraid to pluck it or wax it, so I am just keeping it short by trimming it a few times a week. Then there are the strangely long hairs growing in my eyebrows almost overnight. And plucking these babies hurt. They really hurt. And the long ones are thicker and darker than the normal eyebrow hairs. And the gray hair – these are popping up everywhere – you know what I mean?

What can I do about it? Nothing. Yup – nothing. It is part of growing old and entering into pre-menopause the good doc tells me.

I will say it again. It sucks. I am so not looking forward to full blown menopause.

Here’s how it starts out…

The boss of a big company needed to call one of his employees about an
urgent problem with one of the main computers. He dialed the
employee’s home phone number and was greeted with a child’s whispered,
“Hello?”

Feeling put out at the inconvenience of having to talk to a youngster
the boss asked, “Is your Daddy home?”

“Yes”, whispered the small voice.

“May I talk with him?” the man asked.

To the surprise of the boss, the small voice whispered, “No.”

Wanting to talk with an adult, the boss asked, “Is your Mommy there?”

“Yes”, came the answer. “May I talk with her?”

Again the small voice whispered, “No”.”

I tried to call the service trailer a few blocks away and they are all out on lunch. Meanwhile I have two guys scampering across the roof. If they had of fallen, I’m sure they would have been dead. This is definitely not a way to Age Fabulous… for them or for me! And I really didn’t need a few extra gray hairs due to stress.

Don’t these guys own a ladder??

So why do we get so bent out of shape when the first gray hair appears. I can still remember my brother when he first realized that he had a few gray hairs. He was positively mortified and went so far as to buzz it all off so that no one would know!
