How clean is your toothbrush?

How many of us really give it any thought?? But now that you are thinking about it, you might want to soak it in mouthwash for a minute or so about once a month. That should be enough to kill bacteria. I don’t know about you, but I would rather not catch a cold this winter if I can help it.

40 Something with 60 Something Hands

And if you think no one will notice, you couldn’t be more wrong. My husband’s Christmas party is coming up in a couple of weeks and the first thing I looked at was the length of my nails and the appearance of my hands.
I can get my hair done, have a facial and invest in a new dress, but what can you do about hands that look old and tired?? Well, you can start pampering them. Have you ever noticed that women on TV shows are often shown applying hand cream before climbing into bed. There’s lots you can …read more

Organic Beauty by Josephine Fairley

Couldn’t sleep last night so I pulled a book off my shelf and began thumbing through it. Here’s the blurb from inside the flap…
“Why go organic? Aware of our increasing distrust of the artificial additives and preservatives present in both food and beauty products, Organic Beauty works with only natural ingredients and methods of preparation, offering a pure and simple approach to looking and feeling good.
It also outlines the complementary therapies that will boost our inner well-being and enhance our outer beauty.”
Okay, she had my attention. I began thumbing through the book…
Here’s one thing that I didn’t …read more

All Things Sugar and Spice

Yes, I have my moments when all I want to do is curl up with a mushy Christmas novel. Most of the year, I’m researching something or other, so to be able to stretch out on the sofa and lose myself in someone else’s life is rather blissful! So, this is what I’m reading at the moment. Actually, it has four novellas inside and I’m in the middle of “The Twelve Desserts of Christmas. And at the end of each chapter, author Joanne Fluke, offers the recipes for each of the desserts that she talks about it in novella. …read more

Age Puzzles Me…

Age puzzles me. I thought it was a quiet time. My seventies were interesting and fairly serene, but my eighties are passionate. I grow more intense as I age.

Okay, I still have a long way to go before I hit my seventies, (just had to throw that in lol), but it sounds like I have a fun time to look forward to. See I told you that getting older was fun!

Couch Potato for the last 30 years?

Couch Potato for the last 30 years?

Just in case that sounds a bit familiar (and I’m guilty of not exercising enough too), I was relieved to read in an old issure of Allure, that you can undo the damage in six months according to the University of Texas South Western Medical Center.
But what is the best machine out there to get you back into shape?? It’s the old fashioned treadmill! I wonder how long I could walk if I simply started when All My Children came on each day. At least I wouldn’t get bored as I was walking!! Christmas is coming… hmmm, this might …read more

5 Things I’m Doing for Me

For years and years, everyone in the family came before Mom… that’s just the way it was. But, now it’s time to concentrate on what you need and this is my list for December. We shall see how it turns out.
1. Eating more vegetables each day
2. Drinking more water and less coffee. Yes, I got started on coffee again.
3. Eating more fish.
4. Walking during commercial breaks. I will snack instead if I don’t.
5. I’m going to eat more peanut butter on toast than butter.
Have you made a list for next month. Start small and see if you can stick to …read more

Your Mood Today

Finally, I can see some blue sky and some sun. I was reading somewhere that this has been the dreariest November in history. How has it been affecting your mood? Anything at all?? I can honestly say that I have probably been miserable to live with this month. Just one bad mood after another. Here’s hoping that a little sunshine will bring me back to my old self. Off to look for some jokes. I plan on livening up the dinner table tonight!
Have I ever told you just how good I am at telling jokes??
You Must …read more
