The Flu Shot

Well, it’s that time again. Do you have plans on heading to the doctor to get the flu shot or do you have a good reason to avoid it? Just in case you are wondering, I dug up this little bit of information to help you decide.

“In general, anyone who wants to reduce their chances of getting the flu can get vaccinated. However, it is recommended by ACIP that certain people should get vaccinated each year. They are either people who are at high risk of having serious flu complications or people who live with or care for those at high risk for serious complications. During flu seasons when vaccine supplies are limited or delayed, ACIP makes recommendations regarding priority groups for vaccination.”

It Just Makes Me Cringe

I was at the mall yesterday (I know, I’m always there), but I couldn’t help noticing how many women stop at the nail salons to have their nails manicured. But after reading what Christina (EbeautyDaily) had to say about infections, you have to wonder just how careful some of the technicians are. Here’s what she has to say…

My best advice to you is to educate yourself about sanitization and disinfection, and ask your nail tech how she sanitizes her implements, and to ask to see the process first hand. She needs to have at least a couple of sets of tools , or have at least 30 minutes scheduled between clients to insure that sanitization is performed properly.

And you have every right to ask… so don’t feel awkward doing just that.
