Have you ever used a gloss and just loved it? After you bought your third tube you just swore if they evere discontinued it you would just die or at least write a letter to somebody?? That’s how I feel about Bobbi Brown’s Lipgloss. Formulated with soothing botanical extracts – including Avocado, Jojoba and Chamomile Oils, and Aloe Extract – to keep lips soft and supple. Scented with a hint of Vanilla…..which is my all time fave scent in the world.

This gloss somehow pulls off the glossy, yet not overly shiny wet look hands down. It can be very natural OR….line your lips and it can be dramatic. Anything goes…..and the brush. Oh that brush. The first time I bought it some 15 years ago, I took it back because I thought it was broken. The girls at the counter said, “Ohhh no honey it’s supposed to be that way.” When I spoke to Ms. Brown last September at an event she said that splay of the brush helps distribute the product more evenly, Whatever, I don’t care, just gimme my Bobbii Gloss!!

Bobbi Brown Glitter Lip Gloss

Last year when Bobbi Brown introduced her palette system….she took some of our tried and trues favorites and made it possible for us to have them in a portable fashion. One of my favorites is her glitter lip gloss, mostly because it’s great for layering. The shades here are limited-edition and are infused with light-reflecting flecks of glitter, this gloss gives lips a high-shine and high shimmer look that’s perfect for any party and evening soiree. Cargo Gloss Quad in South Beach

One of my favorite glosses is made by a company called Cargo. They make a nice lightweight glosses in oversized utilitarian tins that are good to apply with your finger or a brush. South Beach Lip Gloss Quad delivers a sheer dose of color that’s light enough not to raise eyebrows around the office. Just the right amount of shine without being gloppy or heavy. Even the colors that are crazy looking are sheer and buildable.

The tins are normally available in duos….but this special edition is a quad. Southbeach contains nude shades that are universally flattering for any skin tone: champagne, rose bronze, sheer pink shimmer, rose nude shimmer. Perfect gloss for summer. As with any lightweight sheer gloss, frequent re-application is necessary.

Soap & Glory Sexy Motherpucker Lipgloss

Sexy Motherpucker is the name of a new line of lipglosses from the ubiquitous Marcia Kilgore of Bliss Spa fame. Marcia has created a new range of bath & beauty products called Soap & Glory where the motto is, “You shouldn’t have to spend an arm and a leg to moisturize one...”. The entire line is priced under $20 and is available at Target…..how FAB is that? These are plumping glosses but they don’t burn like most of them do, just a slight tingle was all that I felt. It actually does work (at least it did for me) BUT it doesn’t last all that long so you will have to re-apply to keep up the plumping effect.

The gloss is water activated so if your lips are moist then it will tingle more! Drink some water and it will tingle intensely! This gloss is definitely one of my favorites (I keep one in the car in my bag etc.). Does it give me a huge bee-stung pucker? No…BUT I love the color, I like the tingle and it fills in the lines in my lips so that is good enough for me. It comes in several shades (I only saw three in Target) Nude is perfect on everyone (that’s the one I love)…there is also a peachy-berry shade and another sheer vanilla looking shade called super starry. The only one that was available on it’s own was nude the others were with nude in a set of three for $24.

Bobbi Brown Nautical

One thing I love about Bobbi Brown is that she gets it, her collections are PERFECT for any age but I find that as I am getting older, her products are my go-to for perfect classic looks without all the drama. Meow…Hello Kitty Kouture Available At MAC

Oh my gosh a makeup junkies dream:-) MAC has always been over the top when it comes to beauty and style, but this is by far the most creative. You may not be one who cares about packaging when it comes to beauty products, but these compacts and glosses are so glamorous, it’s hard not to notice them. Mix Up Your Make-Up and Have Some Fun!

I mix and custom blend most of the cosmetics that are sold on my website, and just love it. I think of the late Estee Lauder every time I am in my studio working on a new batch of lip gloss or custom blending a new shimmer powder. She is definitely one of my “it gals” and someone who I have the utmost respect for when it comes to beauty. For those of you who are feeling a little daring and want to turn your blush into a shimmery lip color, here’s a quick tip on how to do it.

If you’re like me, then you have loads of makeup to search through to find the perfect color. Find a powder blush in a color that you would like to wear on your lips. Maybe a warm pink, nude, bronze, or something in a peach tone. Whatever blush suits your complexion will look great as a lip color. In a small container break off a tiny piece of blush, (maybe a 1/4 to a 1/2 inch) and mix with a quarter-size dollop of lip balm. I love Rosebud lip balm which is available at most Sephora’s and beauty supply stores.

Mix into a creamy texture, and when you feel like it’s the right consistency apply to your lips, or use a lip brush for a more opaque look. How very Estee Lauder of you!
