I Like It. So, That’s Too Bad!

Apparently, if you are of a certain age (like 40-ish) and you do not have short, squared tip, french manicured nails, then you are looked at as “different”.
With dark blue nail shades one of the hottest trends this season, I decided to take the plunge and painted my fingernails with MAC’s Nail Lacquer in Whirlwind. I have worn darker shades on my toes before, but not on my fingernails, so it is definitely something new.
Whirlwind is a frosted metallic royal blue with green, blue and purple pearl. And I really like it more than I thought I would.

Having the Best Sex of Your Life.

I am one of those people who think that my parents only did it enough times to conceive a child, because just the thought of anything more is – oh yuck – I don’t even have the right word for it. Now, I am sure my kiddos feel the same way about my husband and I. But I hear that sex gets better with age, and I overheard a conversation last night that made my chuckle.
These two women, that had to be well into their seventies, were talking about “quickies” and how they are really having the best sex of …read more
Victoria Beckham: I Hate your Hair.

If you have an angled bob hairstyle, please forgive me. I just do not find this hairstyle flattering at all. In fact, I hate the angled bob hairstyle.
Starting with Victoria Beckham and now appearing on everyday stay at home Moms, this angled bob is everywhere – and everywhere is too much for me.
Not many people can pull of this look. If your face has a strong jaw line, this look is not for you. If you have a very long face, this angled bob will make your face look longer. And if you have a round or chubby face …read more
Stop Putting on so Much Perfume!

Ok – I am speaking to my Mother, and perhaps some of you too! There is not need to pile on the perfume – or scents. Really – there is not.
I honestly think that my mother could be losing her sense of smell. At 64 years old and diabetic, maybe this is what happening. I have tried to tell her politely that you can smell her rooms away, and that her scent lingers after she is gone.
I recently explained how to layer your fragrance to her. If you don’t know how, you can layer your fragrance by simply using …read more
What’s Wrong with this Picture?

Is it me, or is there something wrong with this picture?
This is the soon to be 40 year old, country mega-star Faith Hill. She is stunning.
More than fit for a magazine cover, but Redbook didn’t think so. Jezebel.com got this “before” cover shot of Faith prior to being Photo Shopped to the editor’s liking.
I am appalled. What are we supposed to aspire to? She is beautiful. Why did the editor feel that she needed so much re-touching?

Oh dear, I have noticed a few. On my hands. Ugly, little brown, patchy spots. Age spots. I hate them. I want them gone, and better yet, I have been looking into how to prevent age spots in the first place.
The best way to prevent age spots is to protect your skin from the sun by using an effective sunscreen or sun block. Each and every day. I swear I have been lathering sunscreen on my hands throughout the day.
By putting on anti-aging sunscreen each and every day, like I have just started doing, you give your skin a barrier …read more

Seriously. I wonder what the heck is going on with women in general. Have you noticed that women have bigger breasts nowadays?
So, I just came back from Las Vegas, and did some serious people watching. My hubby and I agreed that we have ever seen so many bigger breasted women. Like he thought, it used to be that about one in thirty women had bigger breasts. Now it is like one in thirty women that have smaller breasts.
I am wondering if plastic surgery is just so affordable that so many women are getting bigger breasts through breast augmentation. Or is …read more
Your Age is Just a Number.

Tomorrow is my big 40th birthday.
I should be excited, jumping for joy. I know that there is a party in the works. I just don’t know if it is tonight or tomorrow. I should be on top of the world.
Instead, I feel uneasy. Perhaps, a bit depressed over the fact that I am entering into a new era of life. I usually think that when you get to a certain point in life, that age is just a number.
So why is it bothering me so much?
Have you had this happen when reaching a milestone birthday, and if so, how did …read more
A Miracle Cream at What Cost.

I have used moisturizing creams that have cost as very little as $1, to the ultimate in Luxury, La Creme from Cleau de Peau Beaute at $700 for 2 oz. .
Now, I will tell you that the cream I purchased for $1 was awful, and that the luxurious La Creme was amazing. La Creme did wonders for my skin, but not enough for me to keep using at such an extreme price. Maybe my expectations were too high.
I hear about so many that swear by Creme de La Mer that retails for around $100 for 1 oz. I haven’t …read more
Dressing Your Age – as in How Short is Too Short?

Forgive my rant here, but I must tell you something. I am a people watcher. A people critic. And I love to critique those that just think they are “all that” and then some!
Imagine the things I had to say to my walking buddy this afternoon when a 50-something lady with way too much makeup on, with way too much bleach in her hair, too much perfume, high heeled sneakers, and too short shorts breezed on by. Who did she think she was? Seriously. The only person that could nearly pull off this look would be Paris Hilton.
We need to …read more
