Do You Believe in Aromatherapy?

Stress. One way said to help beat stress is by using Aromatherapy to help combat it. But I am not sure if I buy into it. I mean, I love to light candles, they just look relaxing. And I love the way a certain scent can take over a room. But is it really doing something to my mind?
The definition of Aromatherapy from Wikipedia:
Aromatherapy is the treatment or prevention of disease by use of essential oils. Two basic mechanisms are offered to explain the purported effects. One is the influence of aroma on the brain, especially the limbic system …read more

Power Naps.

There are certain days of the week, or maybe month, that I really feel like a powder nap would immensely help me get through the day. I found an article that speaks to me and how I totally feel about power naps.
The article is written by Dr. Maoshing Ni from his Secrets to Longevity, which is a health blog from Yahoo!.
Power Up with a Power Nap
A long-time tradition in Latin countries, a siesta is a great way to jumpstart the second half of your day. Famous nap enthusiasts have included some of the best minds in history, such as …read more

Ribbons of Love Diffuser.

It is so touching when a company really embraces it’s employees. Such is the case with Archipelago Botanicals.
For Archipelago, a high-end candle and skincare company whose executive staff is mainly comprised of women, the reason to support breast cancer was easy, “You don’t have to look very far to find somebody whose life has been affected by breast cancer,” says Archipelago Founder David Klass. “My own mother was diagnosed, treated and is now very active in the fight. My father-in-law passed away from it; like most guys, he didn’t even know that men could get it. As the father of …read more

I did nothing!

Today, I did something that was not like the normal me… I did nothing. Okay, well, I did make use of the gym that the hotel offers, but for maybe 15 minutes. After this flu bug that I managed to pick up somewhere, I really didn’t want to overdo, so I didn’t. After that, I took a bubble bath and then Britt and I went for a walk around the block. To finish off the day, we sat by the pool and simply chatted until I came back up to the room… a few minutes ago.
This is soooo unlike me. …read more

This little thing called JET LAG

Okay, maybe it has “something” to do with getting a wee bit older, but that’s about the only thing that I’m having difficulty with. We drove to San Diego yesterday and spent the day at the Carlsbad Outlet Mall (on the way) and then the rest of the day wandering around Old San Diego. It was gorgeous, but by the time we stopped for dinner, I was beginning to fade fast. And then there’s the little three hour time difference that we aren’t used to, but I imagine that I will be able to manage that in another day …read more

I’m a teen again!

When we were teens, we spent every summer simply sitting by the pool listening to the radio. As we got older, that was replaced with responsibilities that did not include relaxing. Over the last month while on vacation, I did just that. I sat by the pool with a coke and just listened to the radio! And, I enjoyed every minute of it!

Your Personal Magazine Rack – January 5th

I have seen lots of them where you simply toss the magazines into the holder and they slip and slide and look absolutely horrible. Now is this gorgeous or what?

And just think how many beauty magazines it can hold. And it’s a steal at $34.98…

All Things Sugar and Spice

Yes, I have my moments when all I want to do is curl up with a mushy Christmas novel. Most of the year, I’m researching something or other, so to be able to stretch out on the sofa and lose myself in someone else’s life is rather blissful! So, this is what I’m reading at the moment. Actually, it has four novellas inside and I’m in the middle of “The Twelve Desserts of Christmas. And at the end of each chapter, author Joanne Fluke, offers the recipes for each of the desserts that she talks about it in novella. …read more

How about taking a break right about now. I just found this joke and I thought that it was funny. Now I’m always told that I don’t have a sense of humor, so maybe it’s not funny afterall. But, it brought a grin to my face and since this is my blog, I say it’s funny!
So here goes… My Funny for the Day
A lady was picking through the frozen turkeys at the grocery store, but she couldn’t find one big enough for her family. She asked a stock boy, “Do these turkeys get any bigger?” The stock …read more
