Hump Day Health: Free Skin Cancer Screening Tour.

Did you know that May is Melanoma Awareness month? In trying to bring about awareness via prevention and skin screenings, The Skin Cancer Foundation’s “Road to Healthy Skin Tour” presented by Aveeno and Rite Aid kicked off on Friday.

The tour will offer free full body skin cancer screenings in a private room inside a 38-foot customized RV by local dermatologists that have donated their time to helping the cause.  The RV will visit more than 50 cities at 100 different Rite Aid locations across the country, and is expected to screen more than 10,000 consumers between May and October.

Sunscreen makers sued for misleading health claims

“A consumer lawsuit filed on Thursday accuses sunscreen makers of exposing millions of people to cancer and other dangers through false and misleading claims about the effectiveness of their products.
It charges that makers of sunscreen, including brands such as Coppertone, Banana Boat, Hawaiian Tropic, Bullfrog and Neutrogena, inflate claims about their products’ qualities, lulling consumers into a false sense of security over prolonged sun exposure.”
