(14) Update Your Closet Storage

Have you noticed just how small closets have suddenly become?? I would have thought that they would have grown as houses got larger, but it hasn’t happened and now I find myself using any closets that haven’t been taken over, or adding extra storage space in the basement.

An alternative would be to invest in those storage units that you see in the home renovation stores. The model above is one of the simpler versions, but look at how much space it frees up!! Wouldn’t it be nice to have a place for everything… and you can find it when you need it?

Your Buried Dreams

I was just thumbing through Sarah Ban Breathnach’s Something More and found something that applies to most of us. It’s about our dreams into a reality. I’m always looking ahead to the next five years and where I will be. As far as slowing down… don’t know about that… just not in me, and then I found this passage…

“Jot down some of your own buried dreams. Make sure to include some that you can actually accomplish today if you set your mind on them!”

So, how many items could you write down on your list?? As I was writing this, my grandfather came to mind. One of his dreams was to ride a camel and while this sounds like a difficult dream to make come true, he did just that. He booked himself on a seniors tour and made sure that he could cross that dream off his list.

I now wish I had of asked him what other dreams he had. No doubt, he probably managed to cross those off his list as well!! Just never got around to telling me about them!!

Gift Giving Made Simple

Make it easy on yourself. If you are exchanging gifts with a family, suggest that you make it one gift that everyone will enjoy instead of individual gifts for everyone. I can remember our next door neighbor when I was about twelve years old. She gave us this amazing box of holiday cookies. Everyone certainly enjoyed cookies and I still remember them to this day!

40 Something with 60 Something Hands

And if you think no one will notice, you couldn’t be more wrong. My husband’s Christmas party is coming up in a couple of weeks and the first thing I looked at was the length of my nails and the appearance of my hands.

I can get my hair done, have a facial and invest in a new dress, but what can you do about hands that look old and tired?? Well, you can start pampering them. Have you ever noticed that women on TV shows are often shown applying hand cream before climbing into bed. There’s lots you can do, but applying a good hand cream is a good place to start!!

And just in case you want to go really decadent… the dispensor up on your left heats your favorite hand cream. Now how cool is that??

Too Wicked for Words

Maybe winter won’t be so bad afterall. The minute that I saw that chocolate was involved, the product line had my attention. And then there was the fact that you could use it as a body wash, a bubble bath or a shampoo, sounded almost too good to be true. And if that doesn’t do it for you how about this… imagine the scent of melted dark chocolate, rich hazelnut liqueur and freshly whipped cream. And oh yes, you can top off the experience with a body lotion or a shimmery body creme. Now tell me that these products aren’t calling your name.

If it has anything to do with chocolate, I’m there and it doesn’t get much better than Wickedly Hot Chocolate!

Everyone is getting bark for Christmas

Okay, that’s not all they are getting for Christmas, but it is at least something that I can make without screwing up. All you need is chocolate and nuts. You melt the chocolate, stir in the nuts and then spread out on a parchment lined cookie sheet and pop into the refrigerator. When it has harden, you break into pieces. Now if you can find a recipe easier than that, please send it to me!

But for those of you who aren’t into cooking/baking etc., you can simply buy a gift pack of goodies. I was at the mall a few days ago and noticed tons of gift baskets full of stuff that you wouldn’t normally indulge in… but hey if you can’t indulge during the holiday season, when can you! And it doesn’t get much better than chocolate!
