As a teen, summer days were spent in the quest for the perfect tan. With cocoa butter and baby oil, my friends and I baked in the midday sun.
Fast forward to adulthood and the breaking news health headline reads: “Eighty percent of your lifetime sun damage occurs before age 18.”
The information has come too late for us, as we are now well past the teen years. The consensus? We are toast. Literally. Left to wait for the sun skin damage to start revealing itself in premature wrinkles and worse yet, skin cancer.
But wait. According to adjunct assistant professor …read more

And that means that we still have to protect our faces from the sun. I have a hard time with hats, but every once in a while I spot something I like. Today, this is it. Just a little bit of elegance that you can play up or down.
Have you spotted any age spots yet? I have a tiny one and I hate it! It sits right on my cheekbone!

It’s not something that you think about when you are young. I know I spent hours working on my tan every summer and it wasn’t long before I was a gorgeous shade of brown. But my excuse is that we all did it without knowing that there would be consequences. We never heard about skin cancer and the thought of wrinkles was simply something that would never happen to us.

Many of us head into summer thinking we’ll act like Mother Theresa, while getting an Elle Macpherson bod. But realistically, summer isn’t all exercise in the great outdoors and eating summer-fresh fruits and veggies – what fun would that be? It won’t be long before you won’t have to worry quite so much about your hair color fading with every trip to the beach. Ted Gibson has come up with something quite unique.
What you are looking at are two chambers. One for shampoo or conditioner, and the other chamber contains a temporary color. There is a dial on the lid that allows you to decide how much color you want added to your shampoo or conditioner. It’s that simple. Just shampoo, condition and then style.
Here’s hoping that it also works on gray!

I Might Want a Purse For Mother’s Day
This might be a little heavy looking for summer, but I wouldn’t mind putting it away until fall. I simply love all the little pockets that you can stash stuff into. But that can sometimes backfire on you. I had a purse with a ton of pockets last year and I was forever searching each pocket for what I was looking for. I should have been smart and designated certain items to certain pockets, but I just never got around to it!

The Right Makeup for a Better Photo
With summer coming, chances are you have a wedding to attend and while you don’t want to outshine the bride, taking a nice photo is good for your ego.
1. Even out skin tones with a light foundation, topped off with a touch of powder to control shine. And I would keep a compact handy for quick touch ups. I must have the oiliest skin on the planet.
2. Don’t skip the blush. In a lot of my photographs, you wouldn’t even know that I had makeup on. You need color.
3. Same thing goes for lipstick. You will want something that is …read more
