Moisturizers with Sunscreen.

When we go to the beach or the pool, it is natural. We apply sunscreen. If we plan a long day outdoors. We put on sunscreen. Many of us put it on our face everyday. But what about the rest of our body?
We are constantly being exposed to the sun, whether we mean to or not. And just a few minutes of incidental sun exposure continuously over the course of years can have dire effects on the way our skin looks and feels. Get into the habit now of applying sunscreen to your body each and every day. It is …read more

Anti-Aging Tips from Readers.

I received over 400 anti-aging tips from you during the Philosophy contest. A lot of the tips rang true for me (get plenty of sleep, drink lot’s of water, stay out of the sun, moisturize), and I thought I would share not just some of the more common ones, but some tips that stood out to make me chuckle and think.
“Live, Love and Laugh and moisturize everyday!” – Elaine Rosser
“Can’t stop the age from coming, but I can wear sunscreen everyday and keep wrinkles down.” – Lynda C
“Getting plenty of sleep is the best for me.” – Susan
“No smoking, and …read more

How to Prevent Age Spots.

How to Prevent Age Spots.

Oh dear, I have noticed a few. On my hands. Ugly, little brown, patchy spots. Age spots. I hate them. I want them gone, and better yet, I have been looking into how to prevent age spots in the first place.
The best way to prevent age spots is to protect your skin from the sun by using an effective sunscreen or sun block. Each and every day. I swear I have been lathering sunscreen on my hands throughout the day.
By putting on anti-aging sunscreen each and every day, like I have just started doing, you give your skin a barrier …read more

The Sun vs. Self-Tanner.

The Sun vs. Self-Tanner.

If you haven’t heard by now, the Sun is just not good for our skin. With Skin Cancer on the rise, I am sure we have all heard the facts about how quickly the sun can do damage to our skin.
But I am wondering. Is there a point when we just give up and still stay in the sun, thinking that the damage is already done. Or do we think it will not effect us?
Or you could be one of the many that are addicted to self-tanners. Many of us, yes – I am including myself, fall into this category.
I …read more

*Sunscreen in Your Moisturizer

We don’t always wear foundation, so why choose a foundation for your daily dose of sun protection? Instead look for a moisturizer instead. And while I’m on the topic, think for a moment. Do you apply as much foundation to your skin as you would a moisturizer. You want the best protection, so choose a moisturizer and it should have an SPF factor of no less than twenty-five. In the years to come, this number could easily increase.

Sunscreen makers sued for misleading health claims

“A consumer lawsuit filed on Thursday accuses sunscreen makers of exposing millions of people to cancer and other dangers through false and misleading claims about the effectiveness of their products.
It charges that makers of sunscreen, including brands such as Coppertone, Banana Boat, Hawaiian Tropic, Bullfrog and Neutrogena, inflate claims about their products’ qualities, lulling consumers into a false sense of security over prolonged sun exposure.”
Stuff like this really angers me. You believe what they tell you, slather it on and you are not protected at all. Well at least to the degree that they lead you to believe. And then …read more

A Few Seconds is All It Will Take

We all know what the sun can do to our faces if we aren’t careful. During the summer months we are quite good at slapping on sunscreen, but during the colder winter months, we tend to forget. So, we have to get into the habit of protecting our skin year round and the easiest way is to just pict up a moisturizer that offers UV protection. You just apply it in the morning and then forget about it. It’s usually less greasy too.
My pick of the moment is Olay Regenerist Enhancing Lotion with UV protection. It’s only …read more
