With dark blue nail shades one of the hottest trends this season, I decided to take the plunge and painted my fingernails with MAC’s Nail Lacquer in Whirlwind. I have worn darker shades on my toes before, but not on my fingernails, so it is definitely something new.

Whirlwind is a frosted metallic royal blue with green, blue and purple pearl. And I really like it more than I thought I would.

To those dozen or so of you who negatively commented on my blue nails over the last few days. Too bad – I like it! Keep your opinions to yourself. I like to try the trends, and do not need to be classically refined as you think that a 40 something mother of four should be. While trends are good, following the crowd that thinks they are all that when they are not, just to be considered “in” is not. Definitely, not!

My husband and I continually argue when I am blotting my face or reapplying concealer or adding on more lip gloss. He says that I shouldn’t bother, and he rather me “au natural”, with no makeup. Yes, love is indeed blind. But it is funny, that when I am all made up for a special event, he always compliments how pretty I really am. I don’t get his thinking!

Since I came home from Las Vegas just about a month ago, I can count the number of times that I have worn a full face of makeup on one hand.

Maybe it is because it is just so hot, or that I am pretty golden with my “self-tan” anyway. It is so easy to just throw on a coat of mascara and lip gloss, isn’t it? Maybe I am just becoming more lazy.

Hmm, when I think about it, in the winter, I could probably count the number of times that I do not wear a full face of makeup on one hand. It must be the summer air?!?

So, are you one to never leave the house without a full makeup face on, or are you very comfortable going more natural, without makeup?

So, I just came back from Las Vegas, and did some serious people watching. My hubby and I agreed that we have ever seen so many bigger breasted women. Like he thought, it used to be that about one in thirty women had bigger breasts. Now it is like one in thirty women that have smaller breasts.

I am wondering if plastic surgery is just so affordable that so many women are getting bigger breasts through breast augmentation. Or is it via those silicone inserts? Push-Up Bras? Or could it simply be the fact of hormones being injected into our foods and women are just growing up with larger breasts?

I always thought that I had bigger breasts, I am in a D – Cup, but larger breasts do run in my family. But everywhere I look, the younger women are busting out all over.

Why do we so concentrate on breast size in this country, anyway?

Granted only 1/2 of the kitchen is done, and my humungous refrigerator/freezer (it will go on the wall opposite from the sink, next to the wall oven) is on back order and not due in until the end of the month. Everything else is functional. I feel we have made so much progress in the last few weeks. So much so that I volunteered to hold a large family gathering last night – 32 people – and cooked for them all in my new digs!

Ignore that painters tape around the cook top – more grouting needs to be completed on my custom arch, and I still haven’t found the right wall plates for my electrical outlets. And I ran out of some of the door handles, so those will be back on after tomorrow. (Seems the contractor doesn’t know how to count!) Other than that, the cooking portion of the kitchen is almost complete.

The eating area, which is not pictured will be started tomorrow. We are having a custom booth-like seating area constructed that will be made out of the same materials as my cabinets. That should be finished just in time for the frig/freezer to come in, and then I should be able to call it finished.

I swear that I will never do another kitchen again. This is my 4th kitchen in this house, but we never moved walls and plumbing – so this was major over-haul.

It seems that the eyes are taking a definite back seat to the lips this season. All focus is going to be on the lips so we can indulge and pick up a few new colors. And those eye brows… they seem to be growing back in a little for the summer months.

So how do you you this little bit of information?? Anyway you choose. I’m going to keep my brows tidy and a wee bit darker than there natural state and I need a touch of liner and a swipe of mascara. It simply because my eyes are colorless unless I perk them up a bit.

So, it’s about making yourself look healthy for the coming months. Makeup will be worn, but not seen!
