Can you get the same cold more than once… or twice?

Well, I certainly seem to have. A few weeks ago, I told you just how rotten my cold was and then it abruptly disappeared after just a few days. It returned and left again. But, last night it returned with a vengeance. Same sore, scratchy throat and I’m stuffed up big time. I have never had a cold like this one and I hope it has no intentions of sticking around for long. I just don’t have time for it.

How clean is your toothbrush?

How clean is your toothbrush?

How many of us really give it any thought?? But now that you are thinking about it, you might want to soak it in mouthwash for a minute or so about once a month. That should be enough to kill bacteria. I don’t know about you, but I would rather not catch a cold this winter if I can help it.

Today’s Quote about Winter

There is a privacy about it which no other season gives you…. In spring, summer and fall people sort of have an open season on each other; only in the winter, in the country, can you have longer, quiet stretches when you can savor belonging to yourself.
Ruth Stout
I’m going to have to give this a lot of thought because at the moment, I’m not liking winter all that much! Now, maybe if I lived in the country rather in the middle of a subdivision, I might look at things differently.

Sitting in the backyard on a winter’s day!

Sitting in the backyard on a winter’s day!

Take a lawn chair out into the backyard and sit quietly. I know that its winter, but you have no idea what you are missing out on if you don’t at least give it a try. Now relax, look around the backyard… breath in and enjoy the fresh air. If you have to bundle up, do so. Just remember that lots of layers will keep you toasty… in the coldest of temperatures.
You have no idea how relaxing this is and good for the soul. Do it once and I swear it will become a habit. You might even spot …read more

I’m a lot smarter now…

I’m a lot smarter now…

There was a time when I wouldn’t have been caught dead in a hat. But as I got older, I got a lot smarter and I actually began to look at the possiblities. You can choose something like this and you have to admit that it is going to keep you snuggly, or you could go for something like this…
*Ladies’ Fleece Glove Scarf and Hat Set
Which style works best for you and just in case you were wondering, the hat on the left is made from faux fur.

Still on the theme of things that scare you…

Yes, I’m still thinking about that topic and I carried it over to Her Accessories. I love boots with heels, I admit it, but I decided to go looking around to see what kind of boots are out there that would prevent us from going *ss over tea kettle in the coming months.
**What an odd saying lol… I don’t even know where it came from. It kind of sounds like something that my grandmother might have said, but anyway, you get the general idea of where I’m going with this. I have an awfull habit of walking off the …read more

Are you still using sunblock?

Are you still using sunblock?

Even though the temperatures are falling where I live, it is still important to wear a sunblock every day. And here is something I tend to forget. You are supposed to apply it 15 minutes before you go outside. I tend to remember just before I go out the door. And for you skiers and snowboarders… you really have to pay attention to your sunblock application because of the altitude. (You are closer to the sun) Have you ever noticed bottles of sunblock with mountain ranges on the label. That’s the reason!
And if you get into the habit of …read more

Cold Weather Running

Have to admit, that I don’t think that this is for me simply because I have a bad habit of not watching where I’m going. Just last weekend, I was out walking with my son and enjoying the colored leaves and I tripped. And I was just walking. Put me on the street and I would probably run into a car or something. But, I know that there are lots of you who love running during the colder months, so you had better know the basics.

TLC for Aging Winter Hands

Before you go to bed each night, be sure to slather on lots of handcream. I’ve been doing this for a few months now and I can really see a difference in my hands. And with the cold weather approaching, they are going to need all the help they can get. There is nothing worse than a young looking face and old looking hands, especially when the cause is usually nothing but neglect. Like running out to the car without a pair of gloves protecting your hands. Guilty ;(

A Weekend at the Spa

With winter… almost behind us, I’m thinking of treating both myself and my daughter to a weekend at a spa. It’s has been a miserable winter and spring isn’t looking all that promising at the moment, so, I think that we deserve it.
*For those of you who live in a cold climate, I think that you deserve a little pampering too!
