It’s a new year, and what better time to make a few changes, and be open to a new and improved you! Sometimes the simplest tips or suggestions can make the biggest difference in someone’s life.  Not in any particular order but all good to know.

My first, which some of you may not like, is tossing your diet books and just eating a little healthier. Eating lots of multicolored foods that were recently alive like vegetables or fruits is a good start. So good for you, with many long term benefits.

Yoga Anyone?

Yoga has been around for centuries, and is becoming sort of a phenomenon as of late. I actually just signed up for a session of Yoga classes. I am really looking forward to it.
I was equally thrilled when I saw this recent article on Yahoo! from HealthDay News:
Yoga’s postures, controlled breathing and meditation may work together to help ease brains plagued by anxiety or depression, a new study shows.

How to avoid the aches and pains of getting older

Sore shoulders. Achy hips. Throbbing knees. Lower back pain. Creaky bones. Regardless of how many birthday candles we have blown out in our lifetime, the mind will continue to tell us we are still 30 years old, that we can bounce out of bed and move throughout the day without limitation. I don’t like feeling intimidated…

Okay, I doubt that anyone does, so I’m passing along this little trick. Yoga seems to be really popular these days, but I don’t want to walk into a class announcing to the world that I haven’t a clue what I’m doing. That’s were those exercise videos come in really handy. But a word of advice. With Yoga, be sure that you take it slow. I just about wrecked my back by following a tape. I don’t know if it was too advanced for me or what, but it certainly taught me a lesson.
