It’s another year and another chance for everyone to show their support for women and heart disease. An illness which affects thousands of women from 40 to 60 every year. During these years it is especially crucial when a woman’s risk of heart disease starts to rise.

The Heart Truth is a national awareness campaign for women about heart disease. It is sponsored by the National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute, part of the National Institutes of Heath, U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. The Red Dress was introduced by the NHLBI in 2002 and is the national symbol for women and heart disease awareness.

This year the tradition continues with the stage set and the red carpet ready for a fabulous fashion event showcasing America’s top designers and their one-of-a-kind red dresses. I don’t know many women who aren’t a little obsessed with the skin around their eyes once they hit the age of 30. I have been lucky enough to always have good skin care in my beauty closet and am a true believer in eye cream. At 47 I have no crepy eyelids and no wrinkle around my eyes. Call it good genes but I have been pampering my eyes for years, and way before I turned 30. I have tried lots of eye creams to stop the signs of aging. Some of them have worked, and some have not.

Who doesn’t want to feel six years younger? I know I do and with every year that I grow a little older I remember thinking this age would never come. I do feel great and I am happy with the way I look, but I am also open to anything, including a fragrance to make you feel young again.

In one study published by the “Journal of Investigative Dermatology” researchers found that women over 40 have more than twice the levels of 2-Nonenal in their skin than younger women. The same study found women over 40 also have higher levels of Omega 7 and certain other lipids which when broken down in the skin may contribute to a kind of “odor” commonly associated with older people. Well, that stinks if you ask me, but no one has complained about any odors from me so I guess the fragrance is working.

Living in Los Angeles finds you surrounded by women and men who will do anything to turn back the hands of time. Some actually look pretty good, but there are those who become quite addicted and for them there is no turning back. As in the case of so many women who feel the desire to improve the look of their breasts with implants.

As I mentioned in one of my previous post on the benefits of Flaxseed in your diet . Studies have recently shown that taking flaxseed can really improve dry and sensitive skin. Researchers assigned 45 nonsmoking women with these skin issues to take 2.2 grams of flaxseed oil for 12 weeks.

After the initial 12 weeks all experienced improvements to their skin, including sensitivity, redness, hydration, scaling, and roughness. Flaxseed oil is rich in fatty acids which help to reduce inflammation to the skin. I continue to include flaxseed in my diet everyday and have already started to feel the benefits.
