You don’t have to give up your badass rocker look for gingham just because it’s Summer. I am loving the whole line by designer fiftyseven-thirtythree out of Oakland, CA. The duo designs controversial and exciting images and screens them onto soft comfortable hoodies and tees. I love their DIY aesthetic and totally intellectual sensibility.

This fabulous tee shirt dress features images of silent film actress Anna May Wong, the first notable Chinese actress to appear in Hollywood films. They say of their designs that “it’s important, as Americans, that we see beyond the regression of our recent past and focus on the fact that the world unfolding around us is incredibly exciting.” It is this expansive and inclusive idea of culture that they bring to their clothing line, which is simultaneously hot and also educational.
