Perfume of the Day: Coach Legacy

I like this scent in theory – much like Coach bags, which are stylish but not over the top or overly complex. Some light, clean florals with a very wearable base of amber, vanilla, and wood. I do like the drydown with the wood facets, but something in the transition just leaves me cold. The packaging is cute, at least. Your mileage may vary. Try it out at Coach stores or purchase on the Coach website. This new signature fragrance is described as fresh, flirty, casual, and floral. COACH LEGACY is a wonderfully unique blend of soft florals, amber, vanilla, and precious woody scents. The COACH LEGACY Collection includes; a 1.7 oz of eau de parfum for $75.00, a purse spray for $45.00, and a lip gloss charm for $58.00. [Read more]

After cold weather hits I change my fragrance wardrobe dramatically. This is one I find myself going back to. Richmond has many similar architectural styles with New Orleans, and the fact that it goes to help rebuild this city of heartbreak is just icing on the cake. It’s fairly simple in construction, a gourmand with white floral notes, which seems to suit the beignet capital just fine. vanilla, patchouli, vetiver and botanical musk. Find it at Beautyhabit. Provenance: This perfume celebrates the cultural mélange of New Orleans. Its bold, sultry notes capture the city’s mesmerizing facades: balconies of black iron lace and the lush narrative of the city’s historic garden district. Character: Brazen, sumptuous & romantic 8%... [Read more]
Perfume of the Day: Ormonde Jayne Woman

This is a very difficult fragrance to categorize or describe, but I’ll do my best. Initially it feels gourmand but there’s really no gourmand notes – a kind of clean, grassy spice with wood base notes. The hemlock gives it, I think, a bitter soapy quality but the jasmine absolute keeps things feminine. It’s a very unusual composition, and I can think of perhaps one woman I know that could wear it and have it suit her personality. I will give it points for uniqueness and the interesting experience of wearing it, but I couldn’t reach for it every day. The high concentration of perfume oils did have it lasting all day on my skin, even in this cold weather.Perhaps the best way to try this scent is to order... [Read more]

Daddy Yankee (Ramon Ayala), Reggaeton star of the hit single “Gasolina” has launched a cologne, DY. The notes include: ozonic mist, apple, ginger, basil, sage, cedar, Brazilian red wood, suede and amber. It sounds suitably sexy to represent Daddy Yankee’s brand of Latino sexy. 50 and 100ml bottles will be available at Macy’s soon, at a very reasonable $39 and $49. DY, which was developed by Givaudan Fragrances, is being marketed and distributed via an agreement with Falic Fashion Group (FFG), which in turn is owned by Duty Free Americas (DFA), which owns and operates more than 100 duty-free stores in airports and at borders. Mama Love Organics

When it comes to love, nobody does it like a mama. Some of us are lucky enough to still have our mamas close at hand, but everyone can use a little bit more mama love all the same. From this nurturing, healing place is where Sheryl Karas has created Mama Love Organic perfume oils. They include both essential oils and flower essences (similar to those used in homeopathy). The first scent, Troubled Times, was created for the owner herself to gracefully heal a badly broken heart. Looking at the scent list, there’s plenty that would be helpful in today’s modern, stressful times! Each 1/8 oz vial is $12.99. [Read more]
