The Carrie Bradshaw Necklace

I’m sure the producers of Sex and the City had no idea that Carrie’s name necklace would kick start a trend that isn’t going to go away anytime soon. When girls first spotted Carrie Bradshaw sporting the adorable ‘Carrie‘ necklace it became the gift every girl was looking for. I’m sure at the time there weren’t as many choices as there are today. If you or someone you know wants to get on this bandwagon then I suggest you head over to Jewlr.com. This company specializes in personalized jewelry but more importantly they specialize in name necklaces, name rings, and even name earrings. The best part? It’s affordable and the site is easy to navigate. Whether you are buying this for yourself or for... [Read more]

Caught on Camera: Fashion Week Edition

This was my first time covering Toronto Fashion Week and I have to admit it was a week to remember. I have attended as a member of the audience  but when you’re the media things change: doors open and sometimes close, bigger media steps on you, and all in all you begin to see attendees in a different light. Especially when you go through your photos and check out what’s going on in the audience. Below is a list of things you should watch out for when attending fashion shows (like your facial expression). Why you might ask? Because there are a million and one cameras there capturing every moment. Don’t: Look absolutely unimpressed or dazed and confused when you’ve been given the privilege of sitting in the front row.... [Read more]

Like most women I have a makeup routine that rarely changes. Once you find something that works, looks good, and is hassle free you stick to it. Am I right ladies? Well once and awhile I get bored and love trying to new things. With the holidays fast approaching and tons of parties to attend I always look for new and exciting products to jazz up my look. So when offered by M.A.C Cosmetics to test out their new collection by DSQUARED2 I jumped at the opportunity. Image Credit: Courtesy of M.A.C Cosmetics I sent the M.A.C representative a picture of myself so she could match my skin tone. She asked me a few questions about my style and I told her I liked to have fun. I received three great products. All perfect for a night out on the town, which... [Read more]

Toronto Fashion Week: Evan Biddell

I’ve been following Evan Biddell since last year mainly because like Katrina Tuttle he has no formal training. I have to say he’s progressed big time and his style has matured. I could tell this was a highly anticipated show by everyone: photographers and audience members alike. Unfortunately I lost my chance at a good spot in the ‘pit’ at the end of the runway so was squished at the side. Luckily a fellow photographer felt my pain and let me sneak in beside her. This was an entertaining show with Evan’s use of unique shapes and cuts. He explained to me at a party once that his influences came from the punk and raver scenes of the 90s. This is definitely reflected in his work. The show kicked off with this beautiful... [Read more]

Toronto Fashion Week: Attitude by Sears

This was one show that really surprised me. First of all most people don’t think of Sears as having style. One of the photographers came rushing to the front saying that models were getting really extreme hair for the Pink Tartan show. Little did we all know that those models would be strutting the catwalk for Attitude, an exclusive ready-to-wear, high fashion inspired line by Sears. Unfortunately this line is only available in Canada. I suggest those of you in the U.S. near a border crossing plan a trip to snatch up these great styles before us Canadian gals pick it through. The best part: everything is under $100. I fell in love with the loose trousers paired with loose low cut tanks and great pumps. It’s a current fresh look... [Read more]
