Review: HeelTastic Intensive Heel Therapy

I am one of those females who values aesthetics a lot more than comfort, so I have tortured my feet with every sort of uncomfortable shoe possible.  I’ve worn pointy toes, super high heels, strappy sandals, shoes that are too big, shoes that are too small, shoes that rub in the wrong places, shoes that cause blisters, and anything else you can imagine that looks really cute and hurts a lot. I’ve never even thought of my heels as a part of my body that needed special attention, but I received a sample of HeelTastic Intensive Heel Therapy and decided to try to heal one of the under-appreciated parts of my feet.  HeelTastic comes in a cylindrical stick similar to deodorant and has a strong fragrance with hints of lemon and ginger. ... [Read more]

I was flipping through my most recent Nordstrom catalogue featuring new winter accessories when I spotted these amazing Gucci sunglasses.  Fun colorful frames are great for summer, but classic and sophisticated sunglasses are perfect to pair with your wool coat and cashmere scarf in winter.  Don’t forget that there are lots of sunny days in the winter that will require proper eye protection! Image: Nordstrom Gucci Oversized Sunglasses $220 Lilly Cole is modelling these amazing classic Gucci frames.  The oversized square frames have the classic red and green Gucci stripe and logo along the temple.  I love the vintage feel!  These are very sophisticated and would look amazing with a classic cashmere coat. Is Mineral Makeup Really Better For Skin?

I have friends who religiously swear by mineral makeup.  They speak so highly of these products that they say anything else but mineral makeup causes them to have skin irritations and breakouts.  But is this really true?  Or is mineral makeup just an extremely successful marketing campaign and my friends are products of the placebo effect? I just read an interesting article on WebMD by Colette Bouchez called The Lowdown on Mineral Makeup.  Mineral makeup is supposedly made from finely ground minerals and does not contain chemicals, dyes, and preservatives that could irritate your skin.  Skincare professionals greatly differ on their ideas about the legitimacy of mineral makeup, but it is good to be an educated consumer to find out about... [Read more]

Would You Wear Half-Gloves?

Celebrity stylists must be loving half gloves lately because they’ve been showing up on TV’s most fashionable characters.  Carrie Bradshaw was wearing a pair on The Sex and the City Movie and Jenny Humphrey wore a pair to the cotillion on a recent episode of Gossip Girl. Half gloves are a funny little accessory because they are purely fashion and no function.  I think of half gloves as the functionless other half of the very useful fingerless gloves!  The tiny gloves stop right at the bottom of the fingers, which leaves the palm and back of the hand completely open. They come in 4-finger or 5-finger styles so if you want extremely short gloves, you can choose the 4-finger style which doesn’t include the thumb. Image: Kirna... [Read more]

Designer sunglasses are already considered a luxury item, so how do you push the limits of opulence to produce a pair of sunglasses that can be considered “ultimate luxury“?  Leave it to Dolce and Gabbana to pursue this design concept.  The high end designer duo has produced an extremely luxurious, high-priced, exclusive, and limited edition collection of sunglasses for the holiday season called the Stone project. Each special pair of sunglasses in the Stone project is handcrafted with the highest quality of materials and craftsmanship.  A metal strip inside the acetate temples gives the lenses special shock-resistant qualities.  The beautiful artistic creation on each temple is created with 120 colorful Swarovski crystals that... [Read more]
