Beat The Heat With Natural Makeup

There is nothing worse than being outside in the heat with a face full of heavy makeup dripping down your cheeks. It doesn’t look good and it feels even worse – but we still have to look good during the summer, right? If you’re looking for a lightweight makeup solution when the heat is on, you should consider purchasing natural makeup. Organic and all natural makeup products have increased tremendously in popularity over the last few years, which equates to a nice variety of different brands and solutions to choose from. Here are some suggestions for where your best bet is to go all natural.

Foundation

The lighter the better when it comes to summer foundation. Ideally you have been taking good care of your skin and don’t need to spackle on a ton of concealer to hide what is easy to solve. A mineral foundation like what Bare Escentuals has designed forms a light layer on your skin that won’t cake or smudge when you’re out in the sun.

Eyeshadow

During the day, you should opt for softer, more natural looking colors anyway- but when you’re going out at night you might want to go for a more daring look with darker, dramatic shades of eyeshadow. In either case, unless you want to see eyeshadow caked in the crease of your eyelid, you should consider applying less and choosing a more heat friendly formula like Korres eyeshadow.

Bronzer

A little bronzer goes a long way – so find a product like Tarte’s Mineral Bronzer Powder and use it sparingly. Remember – you can always apply more, but once a splotch of bronzer is caked onto your skin, it can be tough to remove without starting all over again.

Lip Color

A berry colored lip gloss like Carol’s Daughter’s Candy Paint will perk up your lips without looking too heavy or somber for outside activities. I prefer a red hue but you might be more interested in a lighter pink or nude shade. If you really feel like putting on lipstick, stick to something simple and sheer like CARGO Bontanical Lipstick.

Reality Wanted sat down with Anna to discuss her grand prize win of $125,000 from TRESemme this week on The Fashion Show. Likely still in the thick of some chaos and euphoria, here are some of her answers to the questions I’m sure you’re wondering about:

On the sweetest part of the victory: “Because the decision came from the public and ultimately, I’m making something that people go out and buy… that really made a huge difference to me.”

On Daniella’s finale collection: “Her collection was very of the moment, very high fashion.”

On her favorite design from the show: “The cups dress. That was just something that I did and I was completely trying something new, you know?”

Congratulations, Anna!! I’ve been a huge fan of her work over the course of this season of The Fashion Show, especially in the later episodes where you really started to see her designs develop into something special. I’m delighted to see Anna win this week – with 31% over the judges pick. That’s a-m-a-z-i-n-g!!

Let’s look back at some of Anna’s best work this season…

There was the chic, work friendly pencil skirt and sheer top (I love the updo her model is sporting too!)…

Then there was the sweet little pink jacket paired with an Alexander McQueen-esque dress that makes my heart get all fluttery…

Early on she wowed with this snuggly looking Winter jacket…

And of course I’ve raved repeatedly about how much I adore this adorable polka dotted party dress!

The Fashion Show: Season Finale Part 2!

Who did America vote for on The Fashion Show? Tonight, we’ll find out. All the designers from Season 1 of The Fashion Show return this evening to gossip and recount all the mishaps and scandals that happened throughout the show. Did Johnny really create a knock off? Who’s the biggest crybaby? What happened when the cameras stopped rolling?

There will surely be some funny stories and things we learn about the show tonight…but the most important thing we’ll find out…who wins!

That’s right, it’s all come down to this…Issac, Kelly and Fern will unveil the winner who will take home the grand prize of $125,000. Will it be Daniella? Anna? James-Paul? I know who I picked, but it’s in the hands of millions of voters to make the final call.

How adorable was Anna last night up on the runway presenting her collection for the season finale of The Fashion Show? Okay, I might be a little biased because I think she should be the clear winner here (and have thought so for a while now!), but I really have to say I was very impressed with the beautiful clothes she created.

I could see these clothes in a high end store or on someone walking down the street – everything just makes sense. I wasn’t surprised at all to hear from the judges that several people in the audience mentioned they would buy the clothes…but I was disappointed that the judges didn’t share my level of enthusiasm. Since it will ultimately be the American public who decides, I’m still holding out hope that Anna will be the winner!

TFS Season Finale: James-Paul’s Collection

My perception of James-Paul really changed a lot over the course of season on The Fashion Show. At first I thought he would be at the top of every episode; he started out so strong. But then there were some designs that were rather disappointing as each episode progressed. For his final collection, James-Paul did a nice job creating clothes that look comfortable (though a bit complicated…even if the shades of black and grey were a little boring after the fourth or fifth model strutted down the runway.

As far as the judges were concerned, they weren’t overly enthusiastic, but liked James-Paul’s collection enough to still choose him over Reco. What do you think? Did they make the right decision?

TFS Season Finale: Daniella’s Collection

The judges seemed most impressed and excited with Daniella’s collection last night on The Fashion Show. Totally consistent with the type of clothes we’ve seen from Daniella throughout the season, I do agree her work was very strong. One thing they did comment on was that her clothes tend to seem a little unfriendly for figures that aren’t meant for the runways of Milan and Paris…will her designs resonate with the curvy population of America who is voting for the grand prize winner?

Even though Daniella has been a bit of a pill throughout the season, her work is almost always the best out of the bunch. I wonder if voters will hold her attitude issues against her when they make their decision…!

TFS Season Finale: Reco’s Collection

Last night on The Fashion Show, Pt. 1 of the season finale aired – each of the four designers showcased their best work in a final runway challenge. Of course…as we told you yesterday, not all of the designers were going to be eligible for the final vote from America.

Well, Reco’s collection unfortunately didn’t make the grade. After having some trouble fitting the models into his super teeny designs, Reco presented his work to the audience and judges. Overall, I liked it…but I didn’t love it. The really strange dress with fringe everywhere was probably the low point for me. There’s innovative, then there’s just plain strange.

The judges chastised him for the designs looking “unfinished”. I would tend to agree with that. He made a good effort, but at this stage…it wasn’t enough. Reco is out of the competition.

The Fashion Show: Season Finale TONIGHT!

Well, everyone…tonight is the big night! The designers will duke it out on the runway in the season finale of The Fashion Show. The audience includes fashion industry elite such as Betsey Johnson and R. Scott French. BUT…not all of the designers will make it to the bitter end. One of them will be eliminated by the judges directly after the show, leaving the top three for America to chose who should receive the grand prize of $125,000!

The Fashion Show Final 4: Daniella

Winning Designs: 3
Considers Her Style To Be: Edgy, with a bit of rockstar flair
Worked With: Luca Luca, Les Chiffoniers and Alexander McQueen
We Loved: The gorgeous homage to Christian Dior.
We Hated: The cropped floral pants that destroyed an otherwise pretty outfit.
Final Thoughts: Daniella has been very strong in this competition…clearly she is in it to win it. But is that enough? She has been strong, or the strongest, in a number of elimination challenges, and taken home a few prizes in the mini-challenge competitions too. Even though her attitude and teamwork could still use a lot of work, Daniella should present a very strong final collection – the other designers better make sure they pull out all the stops if there is going to be any chance of keeping up with Daniella.
