Are you feeling like you have out-aged your ‘do?
It’s really hard to tell what styles are appropriate for us, our look, and our age. With mature women, simple, neat and clean is best, advises my new friend, master hair stylist Paul Labrecque of Paul Labrecque Salon and Spa.
Paul says he would recommend shorter cuts that frame the face with softer layers and to stick with more natural, warmer color tones that are more complimentary to skin types.
Stay away from drastic highlights and long curly extensions! And, Paul says, for evening, try a nice elegant soft chignon – and you’ll be looking your best, always!

I am in my late forties and am starting to feel like I need a more mature hairstyle but wanted to avoid a short cut because I have a very round shaped face. Because I have not been able to decide what to do – most days I end up wearing a pony tail which I feel is just not suited to my age. I like the idea of a chignon. I have dark brown hair and wear very dramatic eye makeup. Thanks for the great tip!
