Boots – Feel the Difference 5 day detox program

I was so happy that Boots no7 came to Target about a year ago. I’m really loving their body scrubs and mediterranean body products line. Somehow I feel that Brits and other euro brands are formulated in more natural and gentle ways sometimes. In any case, I was really excited when I found out they released a new line of products designed not only to make you more beautiful, but healthier, too. These include the 5 day detox plan (more on that later), skin beauty plan (I think you drink that too), probiotics (yay!!!) and a dry brushing kit. I am already a firm believer in probiotics – just taking the probiotic supplement from GNC for about 2 weeks made my belly HAPPY whereas before it was, well, cranky (without getting into the gory details). The product I am trying is available at Target for $19.99.
So – for the 5 day detox plan, here’s the details. You get 5 vials of the detox formula. Each day mix one of the vials with 32 ounces of water (1 quart), and drink it down. That’s pretty easy, right? Unlike most ‘cleanse’ or detox programs, you can eat your normal diet and go about your day as usual. I started the plan Tuesday evening after work. I mixed the vial into my gym water, and went to Body Pump class. My significant other, feeling slightly icky from all the sweets and general food bombs that assaulted our tummies over the past month, is also on the program with me. Once we’re done I’ll post both his and my results.
So far, halfway through the program, I can say this: it’s flavored like strawberry, and tastes sort of like vitamin water without sweetener. Obviously, drinking 32 ounces of water will make you pee (a lot, especially if you don’t normally drink water). Do you think a detox program sounds like a good idea? Have you tried the master cleanse or something else in hopes of losing weight, feeling healthier, or having better skin?

I am on the last vial today and should say that I have been drinking the water mid-day to night time as I can’t seem to consume that much water in a short time. I have been feeling a bit too energized to go to sleep however. Next time, I will definitely get the water finished up before dinner time. Hard to tell if it works however, not having a lab test – so I hope Boots puts out some chem lab results on people so we know what it’s flushing out and that it really does something!
Oh – another thing, all I seem to read about is that people use it for hangovers. I really think I’m sick to death of people over indulging in alcohol saying that’s just 21st century living. Really, if a person is drinking to excess, I think more help and reflection is needed than a little detox trick to get you to the next bar – your brain and liver will thank you if you could learn about moderation and then detoxing will only add to healthy lifestyle choices.
Kat, thanks so much for sharing! I think the detox program was good at one thing – getting me to drink even more water. The first night I did feel a little more “something” like energized but I didn’t have any scientific way of backing that up. There’s definitely nothing harmful in the kit, at least. That’s more than I can say for a lot of detox products!
