Carolina Herrera Fashion Week Fall 2009

Carolina Herrera’s Fall 2009 runway show at the Mercedes Benz Fashion Week was spectacular. It was full of dazzling colors, couture styles, and great accessories. Here are a few of my favorite styles from the show and what I thought about them.

Excuse me miss, I think your dress is falling down. Or, is that just the style? I haven’t decided if I completely appreciate the slouchy arms, but I do love the copper jewel tone of the dress. I’d also be afraid of by boob falling out of the dress, but who wouldn’t? The cross banded waist is cute though, it’ll suck me in, but now…where to wear it? And when I can get it?

I would like to give a standing ovation for these pants. This is how you are suppose to design, style, and wear a skinny jean. They’re just perfect. The silver top is right on for the season, I like it. The belt has pretty cool detailing, I bet in person it would be beautiful. The shoes look like they match the belt, don’t they?  Charlotte Ronson, take note of this outfit please.

Little house of the prairie much? I haven’t decided if this is a hit or a miss. The giant overcoat is a bit much. Is that suede? Can I wear it to the rodeo? Seriously. I do not doubt that the dress underneath it is just stunning by itself…if it indeed is a dress. The belt breaks up the constant flow of blue, but I still don’t quite get it. The belt was better with the skinny jeans.

More purple! I love purple! I like this dress. I don’t like it on this model. Is she pregnant; or is the way she is walking? Maybe it is the fact that the dress is very thin. Obviously it doesn’t have any lining. How is it supposed to keep you warm during the winter? With that little shawl? The more I start writing about this one, the more I dislike this one. Maybe I’ll have to sleep on it.

Paging Mary-Kate & Ashley Olson! I’ve found your new look for the Fall ‘09 season! This totally looks like something my mother would wear to work in 1981, with a bit of a twist for 2009. I like it though, my mom was pretty stylish back in the day. The flow-y skirt is nice, and who can resist a navy during the Fall season?  That blazer fits so well. I wish I could find one of those for myself; maybe I’ll get this one.

All in all, the Carolina Herrera show was a hit. Unless you are a designer yourself, the show is going to have some type of flaw. So far, of all the photos I have seen, this is my favorite collection of them all.
