Chandler Burr/The Moment on Kenzo Flower

kenzo.jpgThis week’s NYT Perfume Review is a scent I know very well – Kenzo Flower.  I totally agree with him on the very interesting opening Kenzo Flower.  Alas, this scent is so strangely structured that it seems to break down on my skin.  I eventually just get a very peppery, powdery carnation.  So not sexy.  The bottle will look great on yourdresser, though.  It’s also easily found at most perfume discount shops.  I don’t understand why he bashes something much better composed like Un Jardin Apres la Mousson and loves something like Kenzo Flower.  Whatevs.  What do you think?

It smells not at all of the blossom but of the most marvelous delicate green stalk, fresh and tender, clipped in preparation for display. If the opening doesn’t delight you, you are immune to anything except Bandit and I feel bad for you.
