Since summer is on its way and humidity tends to wreak havoc on curly hair, it seemed good timing to share these curly hair tips from Eufora founder, Don Bewley.
According to Don Bewley, all curls are not created equal. Each has its own personality with combinations of curly, wavy, and even a few straight strands. A customized hair care regimen and styling strategy based on hair type, texture and condition is the key to beautifully curly hair
Shampoo Right.
Only massage shampoo at the scalp and gently work lather down the length. Blot dry wet hair – never rub dry or wrap turban style. Use low PH shampoos and only shampoo every 2nd or 3rd day. Other days, revitalize curl with a curl defining solution
Condition Right.
For coarse hair use a moisture rich conditioner and fine hair use lightweight yet moisturizing conditioner. Don’t rinse completely. Leave just a bit of conditioner in the hair and detangle in the shower by using fingers to comb through hair beginning at the ends and working your way up. Make a Leave-In Conditioner your best friend. Use often and liberally especially when spending time outside.
Use the Right Styling Tools.
Work a liberal amount of Curl’n Defining Solution gently through towel blotted hair. Do not rub briskly. Take your time by sectioning hair and working product through each section. Begin forming curl pattern by using fingers or scrunch with palms. Let air dry or use a blow-dryer diffuser and refrain from using brushes.
Deep Treat Often.
Use a deep conditioner at least once per week to ensure curls are hydrated.

I actually have permed hair (cause you always want what you dont’ have)but I have learned a few things from my foray into the world of Curly. If I want my hair to look fabulous for an evening out, i actually wash it they day before, not that night. That night, my curls are too soft to give the volume and splash I’m looking for. If i wash the day before, and remember to condition as well, then I refresh it with some curling spray and I get nice big curls with the height I’m looking for (my hair is short and I like full volume) One other tip is that even though I was told not to brush my permed hair, i still give it the occasional good brushing (no pick!) and after my next wash, the curl is looking great again.
I learned to GO with it! Don’t battle it, get a very good hairdresser and get a cut that works with your curls and waves.
I RARELY use shampoo…I use conditioner everytime I shower and use it like I would shampoo. Mybe once a month I use shampoo. I’ve found this makes a world of difference with my curls!
I’ve learned that hot oil treatments can do wonders for your hair!
a good cut can save you hours of frustration
Don’t try to scrunch your curls….you’ll get better results by gently cupping your hair in sections and gently pushing them upwards.
I have natural curly hair and struggled with it for years. I have found that the information that I just read is great. I found that even with my course thick hair that I can’t use a heavy moisturizing conditioner but a deep conditioner once or twice a month and then a light moisturizer after my regular shampoo. But finding the right products is everything. These seem perfect!!!!Glad to see products for curly hair!!!
I learned not to blow dry curly hair, but let it air dry.
Thanks for the giveaway!

I have insanely thick hair on top of it being curly, so in order to get it to dry without having heavy chunks hanging in my face, I put a little bit of product in it and air dry it but put my sunglasses on the top of my head to pull it back. Because of the boxiness of the glasses frame, I can pull my hair back without it getting crushed and thereby train my hair away from my face.
It’s best to cup hairs in sections and push them upwards. Gives bouncy curls!
Comb hair only when wet with conditioner. Don’t rub with towel. Shampoo only when roots start looking a little oily. Love them fair or foul weather!!
I have learned to not try to tame the curls, but to let them do what they do, and just deal with the outcome.
I have curly hair and don’t know what to do with it. lol. I love my hair but don’t ever know how to stlye it. Have curly hair think is another job
…Having curly hair, i think is another job
I learned that, while I was doing a few things spot-on (like keeping some conditioner in – I thought this whole time I was doing a bad thing but it was the only way to keep my hair from being uber-frizzy), I also learned I was doing a few things wrong – such as rubbing my hair dry vs. patting it with the towel. Definitely something I will change going forward, since every little bit helps in the fight against frizz! Also, I learned to separate my hair into segments when applying styling product…I’ve always just tried to rub through the best I could – but this sounds like a much better method!!Hope I win so I can put these new tips to the test!!
I learnt that you should use conditioner whenever you wash your hair, but don’t wash it too frequently because it’s easier to style when it’s dirty. My experience is that, if you want to look good and have good curls when you go out, use HAIR GEL!!! Use extra-hard and rub thoroughly onto the curly hair. It really does work great and prevents fuzziness and tangling. Hope it works for anyone else too!
Usually I just use conditioner, and only shampoo once a week. I’ve also relaxed and just let it curl which is so much less stress.
I learned not to rinse the conditioner out completely, to use a deep conditioner twice weekly, and to take the time to section my hair working the product through each of the sections. Great tips! Thank you.
I learned that you should just let your curls air dry instead of rubbing them too much with the towel or using a blowdryer, it makes them alot less frizzy and dried out
i learned the proper way to wash and condition my hair. wash only every 2 or 3 days. thanks for the great info.
Use hair conditioner and don’t comb it very much, because it becomes fluffy.
Thanks for all the tips. They’re very helpful!
I just started leaving my hair curly more often around a year ago & even though at times I struggle since my hair is thick as well, I’ve grown to like my naturally curly hair a lot better. I’ve tried deep conditioners & leave-in treatments but most of them didn’t work for me, so I found a cheaper solution that actually works for me. I just mix some olive oil along with my conditioner & it has actually tamed down my frizzy curls!

What I’ve learned over the years is, love your curls! I was a teenager in the 70’s when the “in” look was long straight hair. I have thick, curly/wavy hair and did just about everything under the sun to straighten it. I would use rollers made out of empty juice cans, iron it, use Sta-Puf fabric softener on it, slather it down with Dippity Do and tape it into place. Thank God the 80’s rolled around where soft curls (thanks, Farrah) came into vogue. I felt free…
My only tip is to air dry, and don’t mess with your hair too much. Thanks for the good information and advice.
I really don’t know what to do with my curly hair! I never have gotten it to look like I want it to. I usually just put in some leave-in conditioner and gel and let it air dry. Thanks for the great giveaway!

I have tangled curls. I use shampoo once a week and use conditioner daily.
