Do You Have To Touch Me? Purchasing Designer Handbags Online Versus In A Department Store

A lot of people are particular about where they purchase their upscale handbags. Some will only purchase them online while others will only purchase them from a department store. Citing reasons why are that they have to “feel” the leather (or silk, or preferred skins), or need to “smell” the product. Whatever. I just know that wherever I purchase my bag, I am going to make sure that it’s:
1. Authentic. Nothing like fake designer handbags. Some knock-offs do come close, but they just don’t cut the mustard. Kind of like fat-free ice cream. Why bother?
2. Has my preferred dimensions. I LOVE big bags because I love to put things (all things) in my big bag. Hence, the need for bigness. Anyway, my preferred size? The bigger, the better, no smaller than L-17.5″, W-8.75″, H-12.5″. Hmmm….Is that too big?
3. My right color. That can change with mood, occasion, etc. It just has to strike my fancy the minute I lay eyes on it.
Where do you prefer to purchase your bags?

I buy my handbags on eBay. If I don’t care for them or they are fake, I return them and get my money back, usually no problems. I need at least one basic bag for every month of the year. Love to have my December red handbag, my January bag with fur on it, etc., then I need bags like totes or clutches for shopping, and evenings. But I get a better price, more selection on the Internet, and I shop at the retail stores to see what’s current, feel the leather, etc., really do the research for my on-line shopping.
hi ya
When you are buying something that cost as much as your 1 month’s wages or more, would you think its best to know more about what you wanted. Like by going online have a look/browse, compare it with other designer handbags, then go to the store have a touch & a try, look in the mirror- is it too small? or too big for you? or maybe it doesnt give you that satisfaction as you thought it would. Even if your not making a purchase yet, you are a potential customer regardless whether you are buying or not. The only problem you would face in the end is you’ll be caught between the practicality and desire, and of course the price. x
