The temperature has barely hit 85 degrees three days in a row in New York City, and I’m already yearning for fall fashion. One word: capes. Two: capes and capelets. Grab one with huge brass button and let it swing over a mini for a carefree mod look. Pair a snow-white cape with black leggings and boots and you’ve created the perfect uniform to rock while brunching-shopping-dining your way through a lazy city Sunday.
Of course, if you’re a traditionalist, there’s no shortage of mysterious capes:

It’s one thing if you have no interest in wearing a cape. I understand. You‘re not a character in a Little Golden storybook, you argue. You’re over the age of 16, you say. It isn’t Halloween – ok, I get it.
But for those of us who feel we’ve been rocking batwing sleeves for three seasons now and are ready to take the plunge, fall capes are here to be your friend. Embrace.
