Feel Like A Goddess With Venus

I live in a part of California that allows me to wear shorts almost year round. Seriously. Yes, it does freeze on occasion, but during the month of January, I was able to wear shorts to work at my daughter’s school on four separate days. Woot!
Of course that also means there’s no hiding my legs beneath heavy Winter clothes. I have to continue to be vigilant about shaving my legs. Darn.
Well, not exactly “darn,” because I’ve been using some of the new Venus Shavers, from Gillette, and they make it easy to have smooth, nick-free legs.
The Embrace comes with with a pod-holder that stores extra cartridges and you can attach it to the wall of your shower. The shaver features a head with 5 blades (wow, 5!) and a protective ribbon of moisture to ensure an even, smooth gliding motion. The blades are spring-mounted and adjust so that they sit flat against your skin. The handle is cute – turquoise and purple – which means that my teenager immediately claimed it as her own. (Notice a recurring thing here? I get something cool, my girls claim it).
The Venus Spa Breeze comes two ways – there’s a disposable and one with replaceable cartridge. It features built-in shave gel bars, which make it especially handy for travel. You wet your leg and the the shaver does the rest. The shave gel has a great white tea scent. The handle is a soft, light pink – very easy to grip, which is very important for a close, safe shave.
It’s only very recently that I allowed my youngest to start shaving. Up until this week, I’ve down it for her, but after using the Breeze, I felt confident that she could try it on her own. She did and it worked prefectly – smooth legs, no nicks – we were both thrilled.

It’s no picnic to be a woman!
She’s almost 11. I waited until she started asking – she only needs it about once or twice a month. She is on a basketball team and was embarrassed about hairy legs.
Shaving is definitely not one of the easier parts of being a girl, but a cute shaver makes it a little more fun.
Society’s expectations of women give us a lot to be embarrassed about. It’s difficult to be a mother, harder to be the mother of girls, Michelle.
For my part, I have given up wearing pantyhose. It’s been ten years!
