Getting Some Color, Right at Home

Remember when we were kids, and would do silly things like use Kool-Aid on our hair?
Well, in theory, maybe we had the right idea.
The argument can be made that Kool-Aid is a chemical in its own right, but the fact remains that we CAN change the color of our hair, without using hair dye!

One obvious solution is all-natural henna dye. You can do this at home, in the same way you’d dye your hair with a box of traditional hair dye, but you can do so knowing it’s an all-natural product with no ammonia or any of that ick factor. (Which means you can use it if you are preggers, too!)
Want to get even more natural? You can give yourself fabulous highlights at home with lemon juice!
We all know that laying out in the sun will lighten our hair – mine gets lighter, and it starts out platinum! But it takes a while…that’s why you need to spend a lot of time exposing yourself to the UV evils in order to see any difference. However, if you put some lemon juice in your hair first, it’ll act as a catalyst and the hair will get lighter faster! Now, you can’t go from a brunette to my hair – but you will see a difference!
Does anyone else know any natural ways to lighten (or darken?) our hair? Please share!

You can actually do the same thing with light-colored beer as with lemon juice … Saturate your hair with a couple bottles of beer and then go out in the sun for about an hour. If you do this two or three times, your brunette hair will have noticeable blonde highlights. For brown highlights, you can use freshly brewed coffee (cool it down though!). Olive oil can also produce blonde highlights as well.
… all this talk makes me realize I really need to touch up my roots.
Doing a hair rinse with an infusion of rosemary will naturally darken brunette hair (I’m not sure how it would turn out on blonde hair-sorry!)
