When I asked my new husband what his favorite wedding gift was so far, he said, “I like the finger bowls.” “Finger bowls?” I asked. “The little glass bowls? The, um, uh….” We aren’t really the kind of household that needs finger bowls, but we did get some pretty excellent prep bowls from my friend Alison. She’s a great cook, so she knows exactly what sorts of things will be useful in the kitchen.
This set of eight glass prep bowls by Williams-Sonoma have only been in our house a week, but so far they have had garlic roasted in them, held onions safely away from teary eyes, and served snacks to guests in our home. Which is all to say that they are mighty useful, and even if you don’t fancy yourself the prep bowl “type”, you might surprise yourself by reaching for these babies for a lot of different tasks. More pluses are that they are totally reasonably priced and aesthetically pleasing. So even your thriftiest friends can afford to buy you these good looking glass bowls that do at least double duty. Available for $24 from Williams-Sonoma.
