Have You Heard Of Smooth Away?

Smooth Away is another of those infomercial products that I keep seeing on TV. The View featured it yesterday on their “As Seen On TV” segment where co-host Sherri tested the pads and it actually works.

What is Smooth Away? It’s pretty much a pad that could possibly replace razors. Pads are available in different sizes to use for different parts of the body such as the legs, armpit, upper lip, chin, eyebrows and whatever else you feel the need to shave :) . One other good thing about Smooth Away is that it supposedly exfoliates your skin while buffing the hair away. Whoopi Goldberg was all over it yesterday and if Whoopi says it works, then it must because I highly doubt Whoopi would BS and lie to us :) .

Smooth Away is offering a $14.99 buy one (set) get one (set) free sale at their official website. If you try it please let me know how it works.

whoopi probably used it on her eyebrows :D

  2. Dexie Wharton says:

hence her endorsement being true :)

  3. Sallie says:

Years ago my oldest had something very similar to Smooth Away. I have been trying to find the product ever since. It is terrific. I plan on ordering this product. It removes the the hair and leaves you skin beautifully smooth. No nicks, no cuts, no awful smelling chemicals that you have to leave on for a while. I know I sound like a commercial, but it’s true.

  4. Merdilammaas says:

    i love you

  5. Celisse says:

I’d love to try it.. but what about continued use? What about the possibility of soreness, then ingrowns?? I sometimes shave twice a week, think I’d be able to buff twice a week?
If someone can assure me I won’t be disappointed about this, I’ll be placing my first order anxiously awaiting its arrival!!!
Someone.. anyone let me know thx!! And I’ll definitely sanction it

  6. Alex says:

does anything no if these work good on your arms and upper lip/eyebrows? thx!!

  7. Alex says:

    *anyone!!

  8. Dexie Wharton says:

Alex, from the post itself : “Pads are available in different sizes to use for different parts of the body such as the legs, armpit, upper lip, chin, eyebrows and whatever else you feel the need to shave”. Don’t knwo if it works good, but you can use it on aforementioned body parts.

  9. Jasmine says:

NO THIS STUFF DOESN’T WORK! It’s a definite waste of money, thank goodness it doesn’t cost more than 15 bucks or people wouldn’t put up with the scam… because well most peoplre are fine with blowing 15 bucks on something (well shipping and handling also). If the pads cost like 30 bucks then it would be harder for that scam to last as long and people would be doing more returns and having too many complaints and then the company won’t make any money.

Anyway if you actually pay attention to the commercial, you’ll see that there’s never any true proof that it works, the people in the shots are smooth enough to begin with and you don’t truly notice a “before and after” setting. Except for the shot with the male who is already seen using the pad and then removes it to show it’s smooth… that patch of hair was already smooth, we never saw it hairy because the man’s hand was in the way already using the junk pads.

  10. claudia says:

I ordered smooth away. for 14.95 you get two sets and replacement pad for both. all you pay is the shipping for the extras. And the ‘extras’ came to FORTY BUCKS!!! My total bill was $89.90!!!! I saw the charge on my credit card bill before i got them so I called to complain. they said that was the fee. NO WAY!!! I was told to write ‘return to sender’ on the box when it came…it came today and that is what i did. unreal!!! a small box for 40bucks shipping!!!??? what a rip off.
Hair Away is available on amazon…same product and the shipping was only 9bucks for a set of facial pads and a set of body pads. 9 bucks for the product. so 18 bucks and some change total. Smooth Away people can bite me!

If you want my honest opinion, you should’ve gone to stores like Walmart, Dollar General, etc that SELL THE STUFF FOR $10. Look for any “As Seen On TV” stand and buy them there. They are cheap, and they work great. I’m not very big on shaving my legs during the winter(there’s no point. Nobody’s gonna see them). So when I got the SmoothAway stuff and I did my legs, they actually work. And yes, IT DOESN’T TAKE CARE OF IT RIGHT AWAY(as in 30 seconds). It takes a couple minutes but IT WORKS

  11. july says:

dont use it it is nothing the pad has crsytals you think it s smooth i used and i hate it is bullshit

  12. Dexie Wharton says:

Thanks for your honest reviews. Maybe we should let The View know.

  13. Ashley says:

Do not order this. I got mine today and I tried it like 3 minutes ago and it does not that the hair off. after you finish the cirlcles your legs ache. I’d rather shave or use veet or nair honestly. The hair doesnt buldge. Th pads are more like a mile sand paper and even has 3M written on the back just like sand paper. Not worth the money. What a scam!!!!

  14. Jay says:

I received mine in the mail today.
I tried it out and all it did was make crop circle hair. It didn’t remove anything, it just made the hair lean in circular patterns. What a poor product. I gave a set to my mother so she could use it, and she told me it didn’t do anything for her either. It took 5 weeks to get to me, which leaves me less than a week to get it back to them for a return, that is, if they respond fast enough.

    ~Jay~

  15. Esther says:

seriously, this product is fake! I saw the ad and placed an order which i didn’t get until almost a mth after! when i saw the charge on my checking account, it was like $53 and change for what i thought would be $14.99.
it would have been ok if it actually worked but surprise!! it didn’t do anything but make my skin ashy. The annoying thing is that, i sent it back, paid 10 bucks for shipping but they are refunding my money minus the shipping and handling-$20.96.
So, i basically paid $30.00 for nothing!

  16. Candice says:

I bought this at a walgreens by my house, instead of purchasing it on line. I was hesitant to use it, but to my surprise it actually worked for me. I use it on my arms mostly, it works on my legs it just takes too much time. Just make sure you folow the instructions or else you could probably damage your skin

  17. bahar says:

This is a scam. they charge you $14 more for shipping and all the phone numbers are scam. I wanted to call and cancel my order but there is no one to talk to because there is no smooth away company. It’s all a BIG SCAM.

  18. sallylou says:

I ordered this for my daughter who has facial hair on the side of her face and on her chin, as well as her back. The smooth away worked, but it was a long process for the hair on her face and somewhat painful according to my daughter.
I think it does not work with hair that is course and has already been shaved, but was good in eliminating hair that had not been previously shaven.
I hope this information helps. We are interested in seeing how often she will have to use the smooth away.

  19. Carmen says:

I ordered smooth away from getsmoothaway.com and it didn’t tell me how much the shipping would be. I then got an email confirming my order for $14.99 with a $13 shipping and handling fee and a 4-6 weeks wait. I immediately called to cancel but nobody answered. In the mean time, I found out that my credit card was charged for over $80. I finally reached someone at smooth away and cancelled my order. They said that I would receive an email confirming the cancelation. Today, I got an email saying that my order has been shipped. I have called all day and no one answers. I am so mad and frustrated!! I can’t believe I’ve been scammed!?!

  20. roberta says:

This product is a total scam. I just finished using it and honestly it took me forever to get rid of a few hairs on my arms. Thank God I didn’t go through the whole credit card problem, but they definitely scam you about the cost of shipping! They don’t specify that if you want to get your second set for “free” you have to pay another 7 bucks! So basically you are paying $15 for the product and another $15 for the shipping!Nice way to rip people off! Don’t waste your money!

  21. Alice Eads says:

I tried these things and they don’t work. I followed the directions, no lotion, etc. but they didn’t do a thing. I got them on line for $14.99, bought the replacement pads and got cream to help slow down the hair growth. The package took forever to get here and was very light, not true of the s/h charges. $25.96, it was almost as much as the total bill. Add the tax and I wound up spending $65.20 for a product that doesn’t work. I want to send it back but want to make sure I get my money back first. I think this product is a rip-off.

  22. Lindsay says:

I got the smooth away and i love it! It works very fast and it is painless. I just finished doing both my legs and they are smooth and awesome! My only complaint is that you can really only use the pad once and then they do not work anymore.

I bought mine and Bed Bath & Beyond. It was 9.99 and I used a 20% off coupon so I got a pretty sweet deal. I definitely recommend it.

    • kimberly says:

Whats wrong with you, r u furniture? because it works good on that!!Does not work its a ripoff, its bullshit, why r u rubbing a piece of crap on your skin?

      • Brianna (subscribed) says:

You are just saying that because it didn’t work for you. Did you ask yourself, is my skin right for this? Is my hair long enough? “or” did I wait long enough for it to finally remove the? I no that it says on the commercial “in seconds, your hair will be gone” but, you got to take your time. Not every product out there works for everyone!

        • Brianna (subscribed) says:

Miss kimberly, what I meant to say in line 3, from the last reply I sent you was “did I wait long enough for it to remove all of the hair?”

  23. Stefanie. says:

I bought it today & was rather disappointed. I bought mine at a CVS pharmacy. I highly suggest that people don’t order it online or over the phone but rather but it from your local pharmacy. The advertisement is so deceptive as someone said. Although it says to “smooth” away, it doesn’t instantly remove it. I even did some minor inspection after I tested it on my leg & still saw some stray hairs. I don’t suggest this on your “private area” or your “arm pits”. If they are more than 1/4″ long.

Buy it or not? Not. If you don’t want to spend the rest of your life shaving then go ahead, otherwise, don’t buy it. :P

  24. Christina says:

I’ve been wanting to try this but don’t not feel comfortable ordering through infomercials. I saw it at Target today for $10 and figured I’d try it, not really expecting it to work. I was so surprised! I’m embarassed to admit that I haven’t shaved my legs in a while and the hair was well over the 1/4″ recommendation but the pad removed all of it. I’m completely amazed. I’m ready to go back and buy 10 more.

  25. keyanna says:

i just purchased smooth away earlier today at walgreens for 9.99 (really 10.48 with tax). It worked amazing for me. i was so excited when i heard about this product considering i HATE shaving my legs, basically i’m lazy and i only shave my legs for special occassions. but at anyrate this product worked GREAT, my legs are soo smooth, i hope it lasts for awhile. this product is definatly something i want to keep using. i’m a little hesitant on using it on my upper lip though.. ive never waxed, shaved, treaded, or anything to my thin lil women stache. i might try it tomorrow. i wonder if i’ll get any stubble NOT CUTE. i’ll definatly post again to let you girls know. wish luck. and P.s sorry for the ladies who got scammed

  26. Michelle says:

Funny thing is I live out in Oregon and I saw this product at Grocery Outlet( pretty much where the rejects of all merchandise goes) I bought it and it doesn’t work its like the epil stop stuff… you spray and wipe away. Thank goodness I only payed 4.99 should of known being under $5.00 and sold at this Outlet that they werent going to work…. so I advise stick to shaving or waxing.

  27. Louise says:

I bought this product at Walgreens and to be honest, it really worked for me. I used it on my upper lip and was absolutely amazed how it removed the facial hair. One of the things I think one needs to do is make sure you are using this product after a shower or bath and do not use any body lotions if you are going to use this product. I bought it, then completely washed my face, because I did have on make-up. The area has to be totally clean and free of any oil or other skin products. Also, if you are pressed for time, then this is not a product you should use. I know the TV shows this hair removal being immediate, but lets face it, they only have three minutes to tell you about the product. This, in my opinion, is a product to totally pamper yourself with. As far as price, I never order any of these thing from the company. They traditionally charge way too much for postage. Most of these products will hit a Walgreens, Bed, Bath and Beyond, etc. within 6 months after they are first seen on televison. That’s when I buy them. I paid 9.99 and I can get replacement pads at Amazon.com. Hope this helps.

  28. slacker says:

it works !! i got mine today from hsn.com and believe it or not it works !! granted i don’t know how good it would be on super hairy legs chest etc but i had stubble and it worked great… legs are smooth as a baby’s butt !

    • thinkalot says:

how much was the total charge including shipping and handling to your credit card from this site? Do they charge a monthly fee as I have heard from others?

  29. banana says:

This only works…if you have about 3 hours to spare…and if your buffed out…because it takes for ever and your arms get tired..if would be faster to tweeze each and every individual hair out…another thing is you dont know when the pads are working..or if they stopped working, when to change them…

Not for large areas….use on your face, or small areas..and from what i read dont order online…

  30. reaching for my razor says:

Save your $$ for a good razor…this just takes to long for large areas…your better off shaving your legs and armpits….(arms also) but it worked on my face (but it does tingle a bit)

  31. Emily says:

I haven’t yet tried smooth away, but I’ve been reserching for the past three days now, and I’ve heard some ups and downs on this product. The worst is when this girl actually tried it and got white powder all over her legs and cut her lip when tring to smooth away her facial hair. But the best is when another girl tried and she hasn’t had to shave for three weeks! Because there’s only about 50% of her hair on her legs that’s very fine right now. Other reviews have said the product pads wear down very fast. And the product inself takes so much time it takes about 20 minutes to do one leg. The product is made of super fine cyrstles that doesn’t look like it will take off hair. But it does or at least that’s what people say. I’ve also got some great news for you it exfoliates your skin, but sometimes it can exfoliate to much and make your skin sore, or for some people it can leave your skin alittle to rough so you need to mosturize after your use. One flaw I’ve heard is that you can’t use it like a razor you need to buff it. It’s only worth about $15 bucks so if this product doesn’t work out for you it isn’t that much money. You can buy the smooth away at wallgreens, bed bath and beyond, online, on the phone, or at CVS.I’m usually not to confident that comercial products will work. They are usually scams that don’t work but I’ve heard on and off comments on this product. My very best advise from my reserch would diffently be that everyone’s hair is different as well as there skin so this product might not work out for you. You usually need to have fine hair for the best affect on this product for others that have thick or thine hair this product could or could not work I suggest reserching this product affect with your hair type. Skin wise every type of skin should be alright with this product but I’m not making promises at all. Try it out right your review and help other girls make the diccsion to buy this product. I’ll right my review if my mom alows me to get it. By the way you need to read the directions on the box. And don’t try anything different for the best affect. Hope you find this review helpful and don’t use this as your only sorce.

  32. Melli_Babez says:

i jus bought the smooth away today in walgreens for 10$ and its amazing i love it

  33. bean says:

I bought it at rite aid today after seeing the adds on tv and I was excited to try it. Well I’m not even done with my first leg and it’s taken almost a half hour. I am frusterated and my arm hurts! Don’t get me wrong the parts that I finished are very soft but really I don’t think it’s worth it! I plan to go back to shaving, if I could go back I wouldn’t waste my time.

  34. brooke says:

sO i bOught this and it wOrked awesOme on one Of my legs and then i went to do tha otha one and it didnt even work so in other words it only worked on one my legs like whatttt i woulda not recomend this bwecause i hadda buy razors anyways like this was so wackk

  35. Becky says:

It does work, i was surpirsed. but for those who is trying it and doesn’t work. Probrably just doing it more than 3 times in one directions. Or sometimes when the hair is too thick then it wont go away. i am a 12 years old and i bought for myself and tried it. Remember to put lotion on after you use Smooth Away, so the skin can be smoothen out.

  36. Jan says:

I bought this on a whim and love it. You have to remember that your skin has to be clean and dry. I used it on my legs and ended up with hairless smooth legs. I have been looking for a way to get away from thr razer,(tired of cuts) and this product is perfect.

  37. Shan says:

I’d been seeing the commercials and have been wanting to try these forever. I purchased these from ABC Distributing for 6.95 (plus shipping) and they should probably disclaim “Results May Vary”. I am so happy for the people that this product worked for (perhaps you have the “right” kind of body hair, skin, etc. for this product). Here are my issues with it:
    1. Takes too long
    2. Does not remove all hair (it did seem to remove some)
    3. Makes arm tired – you have to do the circles vigorously!
    4. One pad wears out VERY quickly…like after doing one leg.
However, it does have a great buffing effect and exfoliated my skin. I appiled lotion afterward, and my skin is smoother than before (if not completely hairless).

I hope this helps! Remember ladies…RESULTS MAY VARY! :)

  38. J Foreman says:

I just bought and LOVE it! 10 minutes, a little lotion and my legs (knees down) were smooth and ready to go. I’ve read the complaints about irritation, but have had none. I know my face is overly sensitive-so I won’t be trying it there, but as far I as I concerned-great item as an alternative to shaving. I will probably alternate between shave and smooth.

    • Brianna (subscribed) says:

wow! The way you explain it, really brought my attention towards Smooth Away! Thank you. I’m getting mine today, and I’ve read many good and bad compliments about the product. But, yours really drew me in. I know it’s already been like 2 months after you write it, but I saw it on TV for the first time, and needed to know if this was the real deal. I have my own compliment, that says “I believe that it all depends on the type of skin you have”. I don’t believe it’s a big rip off, like most people say, all because it didn’t work for them! The way you wrote “love” in capital letters grew my attention. Your compliment was just about the best I’ve seen. <thanks again!

      • Bonita says:

Brianna, I believe you meant “comments” not “compliments”. But, ya your comment is totally worth it, what you said I believe it VERY true!

  39. Shannon says:

I ordered this product and never received it. I called their customer service department and they said that it had been too long since I ordered it and would do nothing about it.

  40. Kaylee says:

I got it and I used it! It totally worked except the pads dont last that long!

  41. Scammed says:

Smooth away is a SCAM! Don’t bother especially since their products, if they worked, are available in the mall. They will charge your account for $60 some dollars due to “shipping and handling” without disclosing this process so their actually thieves coming into your home and stealing from you.

  42. Brianna (subscribed) says:

Smooth Away! Does it work?!?-you may ask! Some people say yes some say no, I believe it depends on the type of skin you may have, whether your skin is soft, rough, or sensitive. Remember that not every product out there works for everybody! Plus, you must have the patience for it to really work. Don’t think that its going to take all the hair away in seconds! Thank you :) if you feel the need to reply back, please do! Whether you are against Smooth Away, or you think my belief is correct. <I’m not trying to be to dramatic, because I might be wrong.

    • Bonita says:

Brianna, I believe you are most totally right, but one thing is you said “compliments”, it’s supposed to say comments. But, what does that matter? I’m going to get smooth away tomorrow, but I needed to check online (to make sure I’m not wasting my money) otherwise, I showed my mom your comment, and she thinks that you have the smarts. Even though I must ask you this question does it work for you? What type of skin should you have? Please answer back so I don’t make a big mistake! Even though I read how many people love it and don’t, so which is the way to go? The “you’ll love it” way, or “it’s a big rip-off” way?

      • Brianna (subscribed) says:

Sorry its so late, but I just tried my Smooth Away now, and it most totally works (on me). My skin is the rough type, and I looked up many online sources on “smooth away” I even checked YouTube and it seems like Smooth Away Does Not work best on sensetive skin/areas. Smooth Away takes at least 4-7 minutes for your arms. Before you get it, you must know that before smooth Away is used(on skin) youmust have at least a 1/4 inch of hair (before use). This is said on the directions. Remember! Read directions, CAREFULLY!

  43. Amelia says:

I love it! I used it on my boyfriends back and chest and it feels wonderful. I just want to know if its possible to order only the pads? It took me 4 pads to do him and only 5 came with the kit. Please let me. Thanks smooth away.

  44. jessica says:

okayy people this doesn work if you read the directions it says it doesnt work on hair longs then 1/4 so if you’ve never shaved your arms and your usein it of corse it would work. and one swipe of it doesnt make it go away. i take maybe 10 swipe in a conter clockwise motion. it works for me i shave my legs alot and it works. and it leave my legs feeling soft and smooth. i got it for $10 at wal-greens and im glad it takes me about 15 min on each leg and its so worth it. i enjoy it.

  45. mill_ave says:

ave: we’re wondering wether or not to buy the smooth away…we have heard mixed reviews…does it really work or is it just sand paperr??? and if it does work for you, does it work as well as shavingg?

milly: its ok if it takes a little bit to do… everythihg does… but the thing i really want to know is if it is a waste of money that doesnt work at all no matter what you so…

also, does it completely stop your hair growth after you use all of the pads? that would be nasto
